If you had to pick just one ?s

I don't understand why many people assume that kids either nap every day or can't nap at all. People usually nap when they are tired and Disney is tiring.
Many tweens swear their not tired and then fall asleep as soon as the parents make them lie in bed. Maybe your kids will not be able to nap anyway, but don't take it for sure without trying. Probably some 9 years old are even smart enough to understand that a nap allows more fun at night.

First...if you're staying on property schedule a midday nap EVERY DAY. You will all need that refresh. October can still be quite hot and that will zap your energy faster than you'd like it to!

Also, you may be surprised by their stamina at Disney, especially if you can incorporate that rest in the afternoons.

That being said, you can't go wrong with any of them. I think Illuminations (and Rivers of Light once it debuts) are a little more mature in content and that the kids may enjoy fantasmic, the star wars fireworks at Studios and the parade/fireworks at magic kingdom more. As much as my kids LOVE Epcot, they don't love Illuminations (or maybe they've just seen it too many times!)

No matter what, have an amazing first trip, that's so exciting!

I would pick MK wishes or fireworks you can watch and get out easily if your kids can't make it. Then play it by ear and see if you could do another night :) if that doesn't appeal to you, I would pick whichever is the earliest. They are all great in my opinion. I'm taking DS2 in Dec and hopes he can watch all of them :)
