I, of course, along with many of you have been reading all the 40% of threads. I was just wondering why it doesn't include Oct 17-20th. Is this considered a busy time anyway? How do you think they came up with the dates listed on the postcards? We usually go on Spring Break and wanted to miss those crowds this year so picked our Fall Break instead, now I am just wondering if this was a good idea. Too late now anyway as airfare is already booked. Thanks for any opinions.

Disney would look at the event calendar and figure that there are no major events, no special weekends, no conventions etc.. during those weeks. They would then look at the history of those weeks and maybe see certain trends year over year..

Then they'd look at the bookings they currently have for this year and add that to what I mentioned in the previous paragraph and the bottom line would be..

Those are low traffic weeks .. the parks aren't open late etc.. so it makes sense to discount the hotels on the idea that discount-rate guests are better than no guests.

We made a reservation last year and gave our email address with the reservation. We had a lovely trip in May/June last year and came home.

Then.. they 'magically' sent us an email recently for the 40% deal on value rooms.
