If you had to give up a Deluxe - Which Moderate would you stay at ?

Because...we're having the same problem. We've been staying deluxe since 1999 and it's hard to contemplate going back to moderate. We have stayed in moderate resorts before, CBR & CSR. I actually stayed at POR in January while I was in Orlando for a business trip, so I don't really count that as a vacation or a real "stay". Stayed 2 nights and I really really liked it.

So, due to our financial woes, we have booked POR for a trip in May. Now, we may have to cancel...but I hope not. Before my little January business trip, CSR was my favorite moderate. But, POR won out. It's so very charming and relaxing. It has the magic, that's for sure. I stayed in the Alligator Bayou section and I think I like it better than the mansions. Love the rustic, wooded feel. The CM's were great, there is a wonderful restaurant, Boatwrights, the Southern theme is authentic and that's saying a lot because I'm from the South..and I live in the South.

I can't say that I'm not disappointed that we can't go deluxe this time, but I think we'll be okay. I just pray we don't have to totally cancel out. I'll miss the convenience of the deluxes, that's for sure. We usually stay at YC/BC, Swan/Dolphin or the Poly.

Oh well - at least there is hope of us going.

I also felt like the deluxes were out of my range this year, and so I chose the Swan. Location and bed size are the two most important "deluxe" criteria for me and the Swan offered both. I loved all the dining options in walking distance. I got the teacher's rate which made the Swan cheaper than a moderate, but even without there seem to be frequent specials which make the Swan more "moderate" pricewise.

Of course I haven't been yet, so I may end up posting how awful it was, but people here seem to like it.
