i thought we were all set and staying at por we didnt have a choice because we are going for a baseball tournament..now today i found out they added cbr for the same price..please tell me which one you like better and why! thanks for any responses

with the lack of General Codes or any pin code for me, we HAVE to try a Moderate for the first time. We're a little nervous about it, but have chosen POR.

Without a doubt, almost every post I've read hear for months has been VERY positive about POR...the only negative posts have concerned service, attitude of individual CM's, etc., but nothing bad about the recently renovated rooms or award-winning grounds. I actually prefer a tropical theme, but since we're already a bit wary of trying MODS, I simply couldn't overlook the fact the CBR seems to get VERY mixed reviews...seems to be about 50/50 in terms of those who love it and those who really disliked it and will never go back.

So, I'm basically trusting the general opinion here and hoping I did the right thing!

POR, hands down. We have stayed at both, and CBR is very nice, but is poorly laid out, and if you get a room in the outer ring, it is very inconvenient. We literally had to take our rental car to get a cup of coffee in the morning! We found CBR to be a bit shabbier, also. POR has just finished rehab this year.

POR also has the advantage of the boat service to DD, which is not only fun, but very convenient when connecting to other resorts.

We have stayed at both and like CBR much better. CBR has beautiful themeing and a real caribbean feel. The rooms are a very nice size. We like to stay in Jamaica, Building 44 or 45. It is a short walk across a bridge to the main pool, food court, and the buses. We have never had a problem with the bus service, and we like the food court variety. To my family, CBR is the best!

We stayed at POR in 1999. The bus service was very crowded, and we had long waits. We stayed at the Alligator Bayou section. We were close to the food court. Alligator Bayou was very overgrown and at night it was kinda scary. The food court was just o.k. We just did not like the themeing at POR. We did not feel like we were on vacation. We never went back to POR.

Good luck on your decision.

POR - hands down, no comparison. Beautiful relaxed southern charm with all the amenties you need plus the boat to DTD.

CBR. It is our favorite. I have lots of CBR info in the FAQ's listed below. I have stayed at POR and the kids and I prefer CBR.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the moderates but for us CBR had it all.

I like CBR. I have stayed there twice and I am contemplating a third stay soon. I have enjoyed it each time.

I would go with CBR. I love the landscaping and the bigger rooms. I also like the fact that it has TONS of pools and hammocks on the beaches!

Second choice in the mods would be POR and last would be CSR.

ok i realy thought por was winning and now all you cbr lovers have chimed in :confused3 now i am more confused than ever!!

We stayed at both with kids, and by far the POR was the best. It had more activities, it was better laid out, and had all the things we needed. However, CBR is quiet and more spread out. If you like peace on your vacation and like to walk for exercise, then the CBR is for you.

ok i didnt realize kids had anything to do with the choice... as you can see from my op we are going for a baseball tournament at wwos so kids YES about 20 of them.. anyone want to change there mind! or there vacation dates LOL :rotfl:

POR all the way! I've stayed at CBR and didn't really care for it. Actually, my home base resort by choice is POR and the one time I strayed and went to CBR...I felt guilty as if I was cheating or something.

But really, CBR just didn't "reach" me. I also didn't like all the bus stops (7) to be exact and it got me to wondering if CBR really stood for Caribbean BUS Resort...ha! :rotfl2:

Anyway, POR just has a whole lot of charm and I think the food court there is great. It has a really good feel and you have a choice...you can stay in the stately mansions or you can stay in the cozy, rustic Alligator Bayou section of the resort. The landscaping there has won major awards as well.

The boatride to Downtown Disney is really one of the biggest perks to the place. It's as pleasant as it is efficient.

Hope this helped a little!

Stayed at both. Absolutely choose POR. POR felt very laid back and relaxed to me. The theme pool is much better plus you have the ability to use the amenities at POFQ too. My kids didn't even use the theme pool at CBR - they used the quiet pools instead. The boat to DTD is a BIG plus. POR has the carriage rides. The food court at POR has a better setup and choices when we were there. We felt very crowded at CBR food court even when it wasn't busy.

I like that at POR the Muddy Rivers Pool Bar is off to the side. of the pool area. Very relaxing to rock on a rocker in the shade at Muddy Rivers. At CBR I felt I was always walking thru that bar area to get to the pool or the food court. Birds were swarming all over CBR. They were a bit pesty when sitting outside eating anything.

CBR is spread out and it can be a bit of a walk to the food court. I didn't like that the Customs House is not connected to the food court area. It was a pain getting there when I wanted to check on my bill.

I'm only posting these negative things because you're asking - this isn't to say that you wouldn't love CBR. When we stayed at CBR, I missed POR so much that we went there one afternoon to have lunch and stroll around.

If you already have ressies at POR - keep them.

Good Luck! :flower:

We had the same decision to make. I originally wanted CBR, but due to posts here I changed and we are staying at PO, but at FQ. CBR sounded great, but really had mixed reviews. In the end I decided the smaller resort, less bus stops, etc would be benefical with 3 children under 8.

I am trying to make the same decision. Everytime I think I have it all figured out I end up changing my mind.

I believe you will truly enjoy either! I am a PO-R fan from back when it was "Dixie Landings," but a stay at Carrieban Beach few weeks ago made me love that place, too. The beachy theme was especially nice when we were still in winter back home.

Here are two reasons I loved the rooms at Carribean Beach. First they are a bit larger, and while it is not a huge difference, the room definitely felt less crowded than I remember at Riverside. In addition, the rooms have been outfitted with this great curtain that completely covers the bathroom area. That curtain made the room so much more functional with 4 people. When the curtain is closed you have privacy for dressing. It really made a difference... The bathrooms at these resorts are way too tiny to change in... With that curtain closed, there was a bit of privacy.

So while I ADORE PO-R, I think the rooms at CB may be a bit better better for your full group.

I've stayed at CBR twice and POR five times.

I'll give you a second to guess which I like better........

Nope, you guessed wrong, dummy! :rotfl: We LOVE POR! Great landscaping, pretty atmosphere and laid back. We found that CBR felt kind of cheap (no malice CBR fans!) and POR was just better in general. Although, CBR had a superior food court IMO, but not enough that we'd choose it over POR.

However this comes from a 22 year old (I was 16 or 15 the first time we went there) and her 50-something mom. If I had kids I may have chosen the CBR just because it is more kiddie-themed.
