and 1 sit down meal which would they be?

My husband and I are going to be in WDW at the end of April with our two boys 13 and 2 1/2 and we are on a budget so we are trying to decide the answer to the above question? Any ideas? thoughts? Help?

Thanks

The only sit down breakfast I have eaten was at 1900 Park Fare...my son was 15 and the characters were funny with him, the 2 1/2 year old I think would like no matter what one you went to, I am sure someone else could help you with ones for the real small little ones.

We just returned yesterday from WDW and did 3 Character Dining meals. If you are staying on property, I would DEFINITELY recommend the dining plan add-on. It saved us SO much money on food and if done properly and get you breakfast, lunch and dinner. And most of the character dining is included in the dining package as only one sit down meal which saved us since most dinners are about $25-30 each for adults $15-20 for kids. The dining plans is $34.99/day for adults (ages 9 and up) and $12.99 for kids (I think) and includes one counter, one snack and one sit down meal. Well worth the cost. Some days our meals and snacks were over $200 for family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children).

Anyway, our childs LOVED the Chef Mickeys dinner at the Contemporary Hotel. Great food, 6 characters and a lot of family fun. Breakfasts and lunches are cheaper if budget is concern.

Hope this helps.

We are in the same boat as you this trip due to budgets, we were on the dining plan last year. If you can swing it, it is REALLY a good deal, not to be passed up but we are staying at the Dolphin so no plan for us.

I would recommend for budget wise, going to Chef Mickey's but making a LATER breakfast ressie, like a brunch at 11:00 or so the day you go to MK. Chef Mickeys is FUN and exciting and we really liked it for dinner but breakfasts are cheaper. This way you would be full all day into the night where then you can get a early dinner at a CS place

My sit down recommendation is Ohanas. This was an all you can eat, bring to your table sit down meal with coconut races and hoola hoop dancing for the kids. Very fun and a lot of food for the $$$. This was our "cheapest" sit down and we got the MOST food!! It was 90 dollars total for our family of 5.

I am leary about not having a dining plan...this is why I am plan to do my own prepay type dining...somehow...

btw your two year old would be free!! Your 13 yr old would be an adult so the Dining plan would be about 100 dollars a day. Some might disagree but I would find it very hard to eat for under 100 a day...including all you get...plus it is a good way to budget your $$$$ you do not have to worry about $$$ for food...we didn't pay any extra $$ for food when we were there.

If they like Pooh, Crystal Palace in MK is wonderful and the buffet was excellent. My favorite is the Garden Grill for "traditional" characters (Mickey, Pluto, Chip/Dale, Goofy, they rotate a bit, but Mickey is always there), because of the set-up of the restaurant . . . always something different to look at since it rotates, and the booths face out so you don't see the other diners. When the characters drop by you're not competing for attention with the table next to you.

Do the character breakfast at 'Ohana (food is simple, characters are great, resort is beautiful). Take the monorail from MK to the Poly for an added thrill.

For the one sitdown, I thought of Sci-fi, since your older boy would love it, but I think the monster movie clips (although hokey) would be a little too much for the 2 year old. So, for a sit down, I think I'd say San Angel for lunch. The kids can do the little boat ride, and watch a volcano while they eat. Lunch is always cheaper at any of the World showcase restaurants.

I'd say do either Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace for breakfast depending on whether you like Mickey and the gang or Pooh and friends. Make it for a late breakfast seating.

As for the sit down meal, do a lunch somewhere like Le Cellier or Chef's De France or the concourse steakhouse.

Those are both good and easier on the pocket book.

If I could choose my favorite of each I'd do Chef Mickey's for Dinner and Spoodles for Dinner.

chef mickey's for breakfast, we'll never eat dinner there again. crystal palace for dinner. buffet's for lunch waste too much park time for us.

I think Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace are both a lot of fun. I'd go with the characters your 2 year old would want to see most. It is nice to see Mickey at a character meal because his lines are always long in the park.

If you are planning to do Epcot, I would have my TS there. It helps get into the atmosphere of the World Showcase. But, Sci Fi and 50's Primetime are fun in MGM and your older child would probably like them.

I would go for a character dinner or lunch, breakfast is pricey for what you get. If paying oop, lunch is the best option in my opinion, and a later time, like around 2-ish. The prices are more reasonable, and you won't be hungry for a huge sit down dinner. Check out the menus at allearsnet.com.

As far as a TS non-character, we enjoy Biergarten. They have a great floor show, a dance floor the little one can run around on, and it is a buffet, all-you-care-to-eat, and no waiting for food preparation (can be so hard for a toddler to wait). The atmosphere is happy and relaxed, so you can let the little one breathe a little. And your teenager will enjoy the entertainment and the scenery. A great family restaurant with a show included. :goodvibes

Another vote for Chef Mickey's. In October 2005 we did the dining plan. I planned every meal carefully and we were lucky enough to eat at all the wonderful places I'd read about here. That being said, for our upcoming trip where we will be playing in the waterparks for 3 days and park-hopping one day, my kids voted unanimously for Chef Mickey's the night we arrive. Their second pick was Sci-Fi dine-in theatre. We are skipping the dining plan this year and plan to live off of mini-donuts at the waterparks and frozen cokes at Pop Century... :lmao:
