What would it be? If you had the chance to travel anywhere in the world or attend an event soley for the purpose to photograph it, what would it be?

I would travel to the north shore of Hawaii and photograph surfers riding "the big one." I love the vintage surfing photos from the 1930-40s and wouldn't mind having a few framed and hung in our house.

What would your dream photo session be?

Karen

I think I would want to go to Ireland - I have always wanted to go there - so for me it would be the perfect place to get lost in my photography.

great question...mine would be to Africa on a photo safari (before all the elephants vanish, although i probably would just gasp, stare and forget to take shots once i saw them up close and personal lol), with a quick stop in France to go to Monet's garden, although Ireland and Hawaii wouldn't be bad either, old looking black and white surfing shots would be pretty cool and i visualize Ireland scenery as kind of misty and green and some yummy shots there to.

There are a lot of things I would like to photograph but one I would like to do the most would be to spend about a month somewhere in the west photographing wild horses. Im hoping to spend some time on Assateague Island this summer photographing the wild ponies there.

There are two things I would love to have the chance to photograph.
For one...I too would like to go on a Safari in Africa...
My second...the deck of a aircraft carrier while fighter jets are taking off and landing.

Unfortunately I won't ever have the chance to do this again (or at least I hope I don't) but I would have liked to get a lot more photos of my DH while he was in the service. Whether it was him in his uniform, just relaxing outside of the submarine on lunch next to the dock or various ceremonies that he participated in...I didn't have a dSLR then and really didn't take any photos of him, I didn't realize until later how much I would like to have them to look back on that time in our lives.

Since I can't do that, I'm hoping my "dream trip" will come sooner or later. I'd love to have a few weeks in Alaska to photograph the landscapes and wildlife (we are scheduled to go in 2010 but that may get cancelled) or a trip over to Europe to photograph the Highlands of Scotland and the people, lifestyle and architecture in Italy.

Oh wow, I don't know that I could narrow it down to a dozen let alone one. Eastern Europe, Alaska, Austraila/New Zealand, South Pacific, Fjords in Scandinavia , Scandinavian Capitals, Egypt, Anywhere in South America, African safari. My problem is that I worked in travel for 8 years and sold a lot of trips to a lot of exotic places and was jealous of all the people that could go on those trips.

I do know that we will visit Eastern Europe (DW is a clasically trained musician and has a strong desire to go to Vienna, Cologne, Salzburg and that area), we are also thinking of planning a family cruise to Alaska in 4 or 5 years. DW has lots of relatives in Ireland and we will visit there someday as well.

Though my dream trip for both vacationing and photography is probably the Scandinavian Capitals or Austraila/New Zealand. I would have a real hard time choosing between either of those.

I would like to go to New York that might give me some good pictures

But other place would be Germany, where my uncle lives, that would be cool to go to the surrounding areas and photograph that

EASY...I have dreamed about this since I was 9 years old.

I want to be lowered in a metal cage of the Great Barrier Reif and take pics of GREAT WHITE SHARKS. The most perfect animal on earth.

Sharks are evolutionary perfection. They have survived millions of years, and WE are it's only real problem.

I don't see them as killing machines but as an important part of the circle of life in our oceans.

They are amazing.

So funny how one person's ultimate dream would be another's worst nightmare. I guess if it was a metal cage that was 100% reliable and couldn't ever break...I would consider it, but I watch way too much Animal Planet to ever attempt this!! :scared1:

In the summer of '79, my parents went to the Drive in and we watched 2 kids movies and after they were shown, they showed the original Jaws and Jaws 2 for the adults cause they knew most kids would be asleep by then...Well, I was not. (I was 7)

I have been facinated with Sharks ever since. They are so important to our survival as a planet. I find them beautiful.

I hope you don't have nightmares tonight because of this...LOL

Europe. My son went last April and I wish I had been there with my Nikon. :worship:

Like many others, I'm not sure I can narrow my choices down to just one! :) I think my top pick would be an African Safari, ideally while there are still lions and other wildlife to photograph. I'd also really like to spend a month or more in Europe & the Mediterranean, and a trip to Alaska is also high on my list. Unfortunately, since DH & I are both teachers, I'm afraid we might not get to take most of the trips we want to take.

Photographing great white sharks off the coast of Australia (or Africa) would also be really cool, but I'm not sure I can afford the underwater housing for my camera, LOL.

I would love the opportunity to shot from the sideline an Ohio State vs Michigan game in Columbus. Granted I would also need to borrow some faster glass, but I can dream.

So many cool places....Hmmm. African Safari for sure- I know 3 people that have done it and they all say its a MUST do. Now that I am certified to dive- the Great Barrier Reef. I also would love to go to Eastern Europe, particularly, Croatia, Poland, Prague, Czech Republic. Vienna would be cool. Dresden & Berlin. Greece, Ireland. I would also like to go back to Paris and DLP- we went there before I switched from my film slr to digital. Cinque Terre, Italy is another great place to photograph- I had my D50 but I was so lame while there that I wasn't able to get around enough to take lots of photos. In the US- Yellowstone and Alaska. Canada- Churchill(to see the polar bears & northern lights), Vancouver Island and the Banff area. Lots to see, so little $$.

I'll make mine a little more specific than 'African Safari' or 'Europe'...because as an avid photographer, I've thought about this for a very long time!

1. Mid-August, Mara River in the Masai-Mara of the Kenya/Tanzania border, at the narrows for the great wildebeest and zebra migration crossing. Tens of thousands of animals gather at the edge of the river, pumping themselves up for the necessary crossing to get to sources of water and grazing lands...while hundreds of massive crocodiles gather in the shallow waters to wait for the inevitable. It takes one brave soul among the wildebeests to jump into the water to start the avalanche of thousands of animals plunging in and swimming for the opposite bank, trying to avoid the massive jaws of the crocs. Life and death and the full circle, played out each and every day of the migration.

2. Venice, Italy, 5am in early November. I'd wake while the city is still dark and asleep...listening to the echoes bouncing through the channels of the city workers and early fishermen getting their morning start, and watch the early morning mist and fog burn off in the first dawn light, revealing still-empty streets, night lights not yet turned off, golden sunlight with long shadows, and that gorgeous city all mine for that moment in time as the buildings glint out of the mist and the light fog casts gothic shadows and reaching fingers of sunlight.

3. Lukla, Nepal, late April-early May - Having flown in from Kathmandu to this small town, I'd embark on the arduous but gorgeous 7-day trek through Namche Bazaar and the river routes and past the monasteries, following the yak caravans up the Khumbu glacier to base camp with the season's climbers. Then I could photograph the great Mt. Everest from the Southeast route, and document the climbers through the icefall and up the Western Cwm and Lhotse face.

Those three would make me very happy!
