Disney regarding the Poly Concierge what would you say?

In light of what I have previously read regarding how Concierge has changed, I changed my reservation to a regular Poly room. I have been contacted via e-mail by the Concierge Itinerary Planning Office Manager, who has asked to speak with me about my ressie change.

I thought perhaps people here had specific constructive criticismsthey would like me to share. :listen: I am sure that this chance only happens rarely, & I will share with him the good, but from all that I have read the low staffing & lack of "policing" is a big problem. I wanted to share this opportunity with you all, & hope that we can help with positive change. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Sorry, I can not help. We were there lst January and loved it and would go back in a minute. I can not think of a thing that I would change. The food offerings were great, the view of Wishes was great, and the concierge staff was great. I think you made a mistake changing your reservations based on a minority of peoples opinions. Reread all the concierge threads on the Poly and you will see that the vast majority are super happy with it. And if they're not, more codes for me to score.

Basically all you will have to do is tell them your decision was influenced by the discussion here about guest abuse at their lounge. They will know what you are talking about.

I'd be curious about what you are asked about and what this manager says. We have a reservation for the concierge level at the Poly, and now I am really second guessing my choice.

As has been noted by someone else, my biggest concern is "guest abuse". I know it shouldn't bother me, what some one else is doing, but I know it will.

You might want to comment that other people are reconsidering their vacation plans for Poly concierge

Guest abuse of the lounge is certainly something that occurs, although it's only a few bad apples. We have found, for the most part, people are the same whether they are staying concierge or any of the other Disney Resorts. I have mentioned to management specific issues we've had over the years that directly impacted our enjoyment; while allowing that I knew there was little management could do to impact the manners of my fellow guests. We have to remember, we are all guests. Some just behave better than others and it would be insulting for management to address their guests about particular behaviors--barring the most egregious, of course.

That said, at a minimum I believe the management could insure that all are properly attired, e.g., shoes and shirts in the lounge (I don't even care if it's slippers), proper food handling, etc.

Another issue that I would address is the dwindling of food offerings in the lounge. I realize that things need to periodically be shaken up with regard to the menu. That's fine, but removing items and not replacing them with others is, or could be, an issue. I know my daughter is really going to miss her oatmeal fix in the morning and my husband will be missing Chef Dick's great spring rolls and chili sauce! This does not, however, sway us to change our favorite resort because our enjoyment is really not all about the food.

With respect to CMs in the lounge--they are all first rate and we have never had a complaint. The front desk staff is another matter altogether. Over the years we have learned which CMs at this level love their work, perform well, and offer the service we are seeking. Conversely, we also have learned who will not go out of their way to be a help. If we, as guests, see this--how can management not? Management works with these folks daily; while we visit once or twice a year. There really is no excuse for lackadaisical service when it comes to a guest's request--provided it's a reasonable and usual request.

During our last visit there were a number of maintenance issues we noticed. Unfortunately, these were certainly not within the purview of "concierge"--it was more general maintenance matters, i.e., speakers around the pool not working, torches tagged and inoperable but not repaired--things of that nature. We did casually mention these things to a maintenance worker and he immediately repaired what he could and made a report of other items. I don't think you can ask much more than that.

We adore the Polynesian, its staff (most of them anyway), and eagerly awaiting our return in a few months. I agree with the poster above, I think you made the wrong move switching your res. Then again, you know what's best for your family AND what you require to make your visit magical! Enjoy your visit to our favorite vacation destination!

Aloha!
