My husband and I are only one week away till our "romantic getaway" without the kids....we are flying in on sunday night ( arriving at 6:00) and leaving on tuesday....

Still wondering what the best thing to do is for our 'one night' on monday...I was thinking Epcot because of Illuminations and have'nt seen it in a few years because the kids are always too cranky/ sleepy etc...

Any of you have a good idea for a special romantic night or want to share something that may have worked out for you??

by the way ....staying at OKW for the first time...I know its way too short and ALMOST not worth it but we are going to make the best of it!!!

thanks for any ideas !!

Watching the fireworks from the California Grill at the Contemporary is very romantic.

Illuminations is also wonderful.....DH could watch it every night and still love it! Try watching it over between America and Japan....you get a good shot of Spaceship Earth while you are watching....

thanks for the info on cirque....HOWEVER....they do not have shows on Mondays ....:(

That is originally what I had in mind to do....if anyone knows any different...Please let me know!!

I would go to the Mexican pavillion and enjoy a leisurely dinner while soaking up the romantic atmosphere of the outdoor patio setting, while watching the boats float past the volcano.

Afterwards, a stroll around the World Showcase searching for the perfect view of Illuminations and remembering why you fell in love with each other in the first place would by my idea of a perfect evening.

Enjoy!

I like your Illuminations idea. I would have a nice dinner at your favorite Epcot restaurant and then have Rose and Crown ressie for about 8-9 so you can have dessert there and watch the show from there. Better yet, book an Illuminations cruise! We also enjoy taking the ferry to DTD and just ride it over and back. They might make you get off at DTD and wait for the return boat, but that's fine too!

Thank you to Nick and Cindy for trying to get us to Cirque...we will try it someday....We have a 2 year old ...I think it might be a possibility with him in a few more years...I know our ds7 would enjoy it now....I saw it when it was in Philadelphia 2 years ago( I know the shows are different) but I think my children will be ready in a few more years..

You never know though ,,,maybe will be able to do another Adults only trip again...problem is it will always be like this ....sun and mon for we have a restaurant....

Thanks again to Nick and Cindy...I know you guys are experts and I always enjoy your posts!!

WISHES at the MK is really special. I would consider having dinner at California Grill, Kona Cafe (casual but GREAT food), Narcoossee's, Citricos or even and especially Victoria & Alberts. Before or after dinner, go to the MK for WISHES.

Unlike the previous fireworks at MK, WISHES is better viewed straight on, so we didn't like it as much from CG...although we loved our dinner there as much as ever.

I was thinking WISHES as a possibility....I saw it in December at MVMCP while DH was stuck back at the villa with my very sick ds...I had tears in my eyes during the fireworks...my only thought was that if we do that , we really probably won't be able to get to Epcot at all...wanted to do MK in morning and EPcot at night...

Have'nt seen Illuminations in a while...is WISHES better by a lot??? opinions ?? Another option would be to have dinner AFTER wishes....I was thinking before...I know a lot of possibilities...just have to make a decision...

When you are all done at the parks being romantic, go to the Boardwalk and go to Jellyrolls. Not romantic, but a heck of a lot of fun without kids.

Did this the first time w/out kids and now we're hooked. Thanks goodness our DD is old enough to babysit her brothers. Tired of bringing family down so we can go out alone.:D :D :D :D

I love Illuminations, too. Will you have time to catch it on Sunday night? Or do WISHES that night? I think it is at 8 Sunday and Monday.

I also rcommend Illuminations! It is my favorite and we usually try to watch is our last night on a trip as a final event. Great way to remember a trip, in my book!!

Enjoy your trip, make many memories!!

Wishes is nice, but in my opinion, NOTHING like Illuminations, reflections of Earth. That is a show stopper!

I would go to Epcot.

Do a wonderful dinner at Epcot and go see illuminations.

Have a bottle of wine on ice....and if you have a one or two bedroom, retreat to the jacuzzi. (When my kids are with us, they are always in the jacuzzi!) Have fun.

:love2:

We've never done it, but I've heard that the Electrical Floating Pageant is pretty romantic. I think you can view it from the resort docks located on the Seven Seas Lagoon. Take a bottle of wine and a favorite dessert along with you. Maybe someone else here has more info on it?

My wife and I always find a way to park the kids and have a romantic date at the Brown Derby (MGM). The Cobb Salad is incredible (chopped so fine that you can eat it with a spoon), the other courses are great (try the rack of lamb), and we love the Old Hollywood atmosphere.

We thought Wishes was just wonderful. I was surprised that we enjoyed it even more than Illuminations, which I thought nothing could top. At least you have several options. Have a great time!:D

Our "one" night was in '02 when we were staying off site courtesy of another timeshare offer. I made reservations at Artist Point and we walked around the WL and saw the EP. We just walked around the grounds (we both think that's a very romantic place) and sighed, wishing we could afford something at the VWL! It turned out that we could and did in '03.

I hope you two have a most wonderful time, whatever you do!

Bobbi:D
