Two adults and one small child-we would get $750 Disney money for booking the Poly. Why take a deluxe meal plan (cost around $800) upon top of that?

We would use the $750 mostly for meals. (I assume it can be used for that at all Disney restaurants). Would the deluxe meal plan on top of that be overkill?

Thanks for replies.

I can't imagine spending that kind of money on meals if it is 6-7 days on 3 people. Of course, we don't do lots of TS meals and prefer CS. I can't justify the money Disney charges.

*I* probably would not do Deluxe on top of that. I could see possibly doing the regular DDP with the gift card to cover the third meal and tips and then have souvenir money left over.

Only if you are certain that you will eat in enough restaurants and spend enough to use up both the gift card and the Deluxe Dining credits, and only you and your party can determine if you are going to do that much eating. Can't imagine why a party of three, including one small child, would need to use $750 in gift card money on dining - plus the deluxe dining plan, but you could have a plan that would get the best deal out of both (such a plan would have to include a LOT of restaurant meals)

It's totally up to you. That $750 gift card can be used for pretty much anything Disney -- merchandise, food, tips, recreation, ticket upgrades, possibly even future package reservations (not sure on that last one).

A dining plan, if purchased, has to be used for dining only, and on the dates specified.

If you think you'd use the gift card more efficiently on non-dining, and you are convinced that you'll take full advantage of the deluxe entitlements, then you'd likely save money in the long term going with dining. On the other hand, that's a lot of money to put up-front, so if budget is an issue, using the gift card as a "prepaid dining card" also makes sense.

I started off with the $750 gift card deal with the regular dining plan. Then, not long after, the room only discount came out. I switched to that and upgraded to the DxDP.

I was planning to use the $750 for meals but then started planning them out and adding the cost. I decided to drop the hoppers and add the regular dining plan. I will then use the gc to add hoppers onsite.

I know we will go over the DP with extras like apps, tips and drinks. There are 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids.

I would look on allearsnet and price out the meals.
