The Latest Update

Training is still going well. I did 8 miles yesterday with DH. We even drove and parked so we could run the part of the running trail with a Florida hill aka a bridge. While running the bridge we reminisced about how we use to have to stop and walk it and now it is no problem. Everytime I think back to where I was I am amazed at how far I have come. Even looking back just 3 months ago I have come a long way.

My only issue with running right now is having to run at night it is getting sketchy. I think I found a good solution which is taking our dog with me. She is a pitbull and can look very intimidating. Even though she really wouldn't hurt a fly. I took her out the other night and I felt better. She was a little wild but I think once she gets use to running she will calm down.

Look how vicious she is!

This past Wednesday was my birthday and I got lots of running goodies for presents including a new yellow sparkle skirt and a watch, a Garmin Forerunner 230. I had a Forerunner 10 and it got the job done but I was worried the battery would not make it to the end of the marathon. It is taking some getting use to but the 230 seems awesome. I like that I can wear it all the time and it tracks my steps and sleep in addition to my runs. I also decided to give myself a bib for the Enchanted 10k during Princess weekend. I am a sucker for a good medal and after they previewed them a friend asked me if I wanted to use her Raw Threads buddy pass. I jumped at that opportunity!

On the Dopey outfit front I have made a little progress. I am going to reuse my Mickey outfit from the DLH for the 5k. For the marathon I ordered a purple shirt that has the quote "It's kind of Fun to do the Impossible" and I am going to pair it with my new yellow skirt. I think I am also going to throw some flower clips in my hair and go for a Rapunzel look. Thanks @wehrengrizz for finding the shirt! Two down two to go.

In other news DS9 has decided to run with me on Tuesdays now. He is training for his first 10k at the end of January. It will be the Hellcat 10k and it benefits the local military museum. If anything could inspire him to run 10k it would be a Hellcat medal. Tuesdays are my Strength runs so I think it works out good to help him to up his mileage. He is currently up to 4 miles. I am a little sad because I think the race is too close to the marathon for me to run. But I will be there cheering him and DH on :cheer2:

On the non running front we are at the end of our APs for the year and have decided not the renew DH's or the kid's. It just didn't make sense since the week before Dark Side is during the blackout dates and that week alone costs as much as our APs. I am sad but we had a fantastic day at HS on Saturday. DS1 met Mickey for the first time. He had not really seemed interested before. He has become a huge Mickey fan (I mean who isn't :earboy2:) and wasn't scared at all. He ran up and gave him a big hug. We also got to see Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam which I thought was awesome! It was the perfect day to end our year of Disney!

Hooray! Happy to hear everything is still going well! It's always nice to look back on where you were and where you are now. Congrats on the tremendous progress you've made thus far. Happy belated birthday and congrats on all the wonderful new running items! And oh man putting it at 20 runs left really makes it seem like it's right around the corner!

PS - :rotfl2: At the little guy giving Darth Vader the "What the What??!?!" staredown!

Here I go again being terrible at updates!

Christmas was a whirlwind as always! The kids were extra funny this year, screaming at every package they opened :hyper: I got some more awesome running things. DH got me a nice wireless set of earbuds. I was really wanting some, I hate my wired ones and they were starting to not work so well with all the sweat :crazy2: My mom and dad are huge gift givers and tend to go overboard, the running related things they got me were a North Face tech shirt, a running journal and a gift certificate to have a bag made at bibs2bags. If you don't know about that website you order a bag from them and then send them your bibs from past races. They then take the bibs and make them into a bag for you. They have all kinds of bags from totes to gym bags. @wehrengrizz tipped me off to them a couple of months ago. You can also send them your medals and they will made straps from the ribbons and zipper pulls or emblems from the actual medal. I can't wait to design on but I am waiting until after Dopey so I can use those bibs too. I am not sure if I want to part with any medals but I do like the idea of using the ribbons for straps.

In just 8 short days I will be making my way to WDW!!! I can't believe I have been planning this since April and it is finally about to happen. So much has changed since signing up for Goofy and I would like to take a minute to reflect back on the past 8 or so months. I ran 4 half marathons, a 10 miler, a 10k, a 5 miler and 2 5ks. I met an awesome new friend at Tink and we got to have the best mom's weekend ever at the DLH. I traveled to DL all by myself (that is a huge deal for me). I broke out of my shell and asked for help with a custom training plan. I got in 95% of my training runs. I volunteered at Wine and Dine and ran the kid's races with my kiddos. I also transferred my Goofy Bib to a Dopey bib! It has been a crazy but amazing 8 months!

Ok back to Marathon weekend planning, I think I have all of my outfits picked out for the races. 5k- Mickey (red skirt, black shirt, yellow shoes and ears), 10k- Black running capris and I was thinking of getting a raw threads shirt and matching head band, Half- Snow White (Yellow skirt, blue shirt and red hair band), Full- Purple shirt that says It's Kind of Fun to Do the Impossible with a black skirt and gold headband.

As far as training goes this past week I was able to get in all of my runs. Most of them were in the daylight since DH was off work so much. Have I mentioned how much I hate running in the dark?! It is just so creepy! I did run late last night because of some taper madness!! I officially started my taper last week. The past couple of days my hip and knee started hurting so I started to worry I was getting injured :crutches: . I was going to skip my run yesterday but then got a gentle reminder that I wasn't probably injured but more than likely coming down with the madness  What what I do without @DopeyBadger!! So I got my run in and it felt so good to be out there last night.

So to help with the madness I have decided to start a new project. I am thinking about making myself a bingo type game for the marathon. I am going to laminate a card that has different objectives on it and bring it with me along with a sharpie. I thought since I get to enjoy the course for 6ish hours that it would be a good way to keep boredom at bay and force myself to enjoy what is around me. But I need some help. If you have any ideas please post them!!! So far I have come up with:

  • Find corral J (trying to make various levels of difficulty)
  • Count 100 cones
  • Meet another Dis'er
  • Stop for a character photo
  • See DH on course
I was maybe thinking about attaching a "reward" to each row I get bingo. Nothing big but something for motivation.

Only 7 training runs left!!!

I also just want to tell you how proud of you I am. No matter what happens during the race weekend, you're amazing! I said this at the start of training back in September to you privately, but the training plan I put together for you was one of the toughest, if not the toughest, training plans I've ever written (and that includes tougher than what I do). But I knew based on your experiences and other things you told me, you could do it. I'm so so proud of the progress you've made and am so ready to see you do the impossible! :thumbsup2

Yay!! I am so excited to see this bag, and I hope it's to you before SWDS!!

So super proud of you and I can't wait to hear about Dopey!

BINGO ideas...

-500 people wearing the shirt of the race they're running. This can be at the expo, should be no problem. :rotfl2:
-10 people wearing a shirt of a race you've run in!
-5 people rocking out to their running soundtrack:music:
-10 people telling everyone great job and they're "almost there" when it's like...mile 5. :rotfl:

- Picture at significant mile markers (birthday, number/age of kids, etc.)

I love the significant mile marker one! and I'm debating on the ride a ride, I'm not ruling anything out at this point. Do you know about how much time EE takes?

-Center Square should be completed Dopey Challenge
Definitely!!!

This made me tear up! I am so happy to hear that I make you proud. I know you put a lot of work into these training plans and I try to honor that by trying my hardest and completing each run(it eats me up that I missed that 5%). I am ready, bring on the impossible!!!

That's ok they can be bonus goals :)

Hey stranger! I was thinking about you during the wild fires, I hope things are getting back to normal in the Gatlinburg area.

Thanks! My mom actually evacuated, but her house was fine in the end, thank goodness. The whole area needs tourists to come back and spend some money. Yesterday.
