We are going to WDW with a total of 12 people in August 2012. I just got an email saying I will be able to book flights starting on Sunday. We (each adult in our travel party) had all JUST signed up for the jerBlue American Express card and have started using them for everything in order to save up points. Last time we went to WDW, we booked flights they day they were released and saved 100's of dollars (based on the ticket prices closer to our travel dates...we booked about 6 months out). My question is - does anyone know if the point value of flights changes as often as the dollar price? The flight we are looking at now is 40,000 points for a one-way ticket. We should have 40,000 points in the next few months, but only have 10,500 right now. I don't want to risk the cost/point value going up too much and miss out on possibly just paying for tickets and having things be easier.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you all want to be on the same flight I think I'd book it when the dates are released. Is it possible to use the AMEX JB points to book a car rental, that is if you're renting a car.

The points do change with the dollar amount. That 40,000 points can change, it could go up, or down. The fares haven't been released yet so how do you know that they are 40,000 points anyway?

yes they can and will change - usually a sale fare from BOS to MCO is only 7K points

not sure where you are in VT, and if this is feasible, but you may want to check out area airports to get better bang for your points...for example, even at regular fare (not sale), points needed to fly out of logan are about 1/2 what you would pay to fly out of VT...Hartford is about the same drop
