It's called 'Around the World at Epcot' and it's the best money I've ever spent at WDW. Riding a Segway is like escaping into the future. I want one sooo bad!!!

I agree--my DH and I had a blast on them this last fall!

Segways are the human transporter things. Google segway and you will find info.

My DW and I did this tour on Jan. 26 and really enjoyed it. I only wish it had been a little longer.
Notes: You can get a 15% AAA discount for this tour. And, we almost had a major problem getting to our 8:30 AM tour. The bus to EPCOT from POR did not start running until 8:00 AM. We were supposed to be at EPCOT's Guest Relations office by 8:15 and we didn't get there until almost 8:30. It wasn't a problem as far as the CM's were concerned but it did concern us.
The pin you receive at the end of the tour is a nice one.

After we did our tour, we went into Celebration and rented them (the place wasn't in the same building when we went back..I hope they are still there). The guide took us all around the backside of Celebration. We were out for about an hour. The Segways were faster than the Disney ones. What a blast..and cheaper. We did have to wait before the tour, while they gave lessons to some youngsters. The youngsters went faster than us, the guide went back and fourth between us to make sure we were ok. While I liked the Disney Tour (and being in Disney with it still closed) I loved loved loved the rental in the town of celebration. We got to go a lot faster and not be bunched together.

Count me in on the Can't Wait Club! My DH and I are doing Segway Tour on Feb. 22 for his birthday! Any tips on "driving" the segway?

We can't wait too - we're doing the Segway Tour on Valentine's Day! WooHoo!

jerbroni,
I am so glad that you posted about the Segway tour, as my DH and I are considering trying the tour in August for my birthday. Does anyone know if there are any AP or DVC discounts for this tour?

We just did this on the 31st for DS's 16th birthday - we LOVED it - it was the highlight of the trip !! DS and his friend had a blast ! Our guides, Octavio and Lamonte were awesome, patient and fun. I really hadn't expected that the tour would take us in and out of most of the countries (using our new-found segway maneuvering skills) and stopped in each one for a little 'inside' info. We did the 9:30 tour and I was worried about being in WS after it opened with people around, but by then we were all quite comfortable on our segways and it was fun to be an 'attraction' ourselves !! I'm pretty sure there is either a DVC and/or an AP discount also, I know I used one of them, can't remember which. Don't forget to take a camera because the guides will take a pic of you when you get back into the area around Italy - Enjoy ! :smooth:

The pins are definitely cool - with a little segway rider that moves back and forth! I wouldn't have wanted to be on a faster segway, that was enough speed for me! - I was slightly 'segway dyslexic' - kept turning the opposite direction from where I needed to go   !!

We did the tour last May and loved it!

Another vote for the tour! DH and I have done it twice. We both really enjoyed it. I even got to meet the wall in Morocco up close and personal. (Don't worry no damage to the wall, segway or me! You can't daydream and drive at the same time!)

DMRick, could you tell me more about the tour in Celebration. How much did it cost? How long is it? We had so much fun with the tour in Epcot we are thinking about going over to Celebration. Thanks!

I don't know about DVC discounts, but AP holders get 15% off any of the WDW tours. I have it booked for May and the $80.00 tour is $68.00. You must pay when you book it by the way.

Were most people on it couples or were there some solos? I'm going solo this trip and would hate to be the only solo there.

I'd say that in my group of 10, there were 3 couples and 4 singles. They give you individual attention, though, so even the couples are kind of split up during the training portion. You can ride in whatever order you want, though, once you get out into the real world. Now I just wish I could come up with one legitimate excuse to buy one of my own!

Oh I am so excited!! This looks like a blast! :cool1: My mom and sis and our families are going next spring. We wanted to something just the 3 of us. How cool is this?? And,it's something none of us have done. We are ALL Disney fanatical! Yeeeehaaaa!! :moped:

does anyone know if they actually ask for proof of age for the 16 yr old. my son is only 15 and i would love to do this as a family. other son is 17. i know the age limit is 16 but he is very responsible and besides he actually looks older then his age.

if proof of age is needed is it needed for everyone. my 17 year old son doesnt have a drivers liscence yet so if proof of age isd needed then i have to at least get him a photo id.

I imagine the age limit has something to do with liability. We are both well past 16 so we didn't worry about it. ;)

Is it hard to drive one of these? I am not the greatest at anything that requires balance. Will I be okay with this?? Do you just ride around on these or is there more to the tour?
