If you couldn't go to Disney where would you go?

I think it would be interesting to visit Greece, and I love their food.

My x fatherinlaw traveled a lot and said his favorite place was Greece! I wish I had asked him more questions about the time he spent there. I would love to go there too.

OUterbanks, NC, without a doubt! Love, love love it there in the summer! we have gone there every year for 20 years!! Also, Hawaii if you have never been-you can get good deals on airfare if you book 6 months out & go to Kuaia (sp?) "the garden island" lots to do, but a bit slower paced & goregeous. Horseback riding, waterfalls galore, hiking, watch the surfers on the north shore, ride around in a jeep & expolore, go whale watching...we went last spring & even our 17 year olds loved it! Debbie

Thanks for your ideas. I would love to go to Kawai (sp) also. I have heard it is a beautiful place. Can you stay overnight on the Island now? Where did you stay there? Thanks

If I had someone to go with: Beach destinations. Always wanted to do Acapulco. Hawaii is high on my list too.

If it's a solo trip: Cities! Kinda like WDW, but different in that it's self contained, transportation is easy and there are an endless amount of things to do-- New York, Seattle, San Fran, Athens, Tokyo, Paris and Prague are all high on my "to do" list. I get to Toronto 4-6 times a year, so that's probably my favorite.

:earsboy:

I would love to visit Toronto also and other parts of Canada. We saw Niagara Falls from the Canada side when I was a child and it was beautiful. A friend of mine visited western canada and said it was beautiful. Thanks for your ideas.

I love the US National Parks. The Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier. The Grand Tetons, the Rockies. A cruise through the Inside Passage of Alaska is really nice, but also try to do a tour of Denali. The US has amazing things to offer from coast to coast, and I think we should all try to enjoy the National parks while we can.

ITA! We're starting with Grand Tetons (and one day in Yellowstone-this time) this June, then we have a goal to see as many National Parks as possible.

las vegas, maui, amsterdam, edmonton mall in canada, mall of america in minnesota - guess that's about it.

Turkey is a great and beautiful country to visit :)

And there are lots of European cities that are worth a visit, like Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin (my personal favorite), Vienna, Barcelona, Rome, Prague...!

My dream is to go to all the National Parks in the U.S.

I'm not a camper, but do the love the outdoors. Very impressed with Mother Nature!

So fly to an area, then get a car to do touring.

Have fun

Pa is where i would go on vacation, thats where my kids live, and i miss them:sad2: And after a quick visit we would drive:drive: to NJ and the beach.:beach: TX is great,(do not miss east coast winters) but there is no place like home.

When I don't travel to Disney I will either go to Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard. Hope you get some great suggestions OP!

Outside of the US I would go to Australia. Inside the US would be the National Parks. What better way to relax than to stay in the park hotels with views of nature?

I didn't know that there were hotels in the National Parks that you could stay in. That is great news!! I thought we would have to stay in a nearby city somewhere, but actually staying in the park sounds so great!

The Wilderness Lodge is patterned after a hotel in Yellowstone Park, the Old Faithful Inn. I can see me walking in and announcing "Wow, this is just like WDW!":lmao:

DH and I had an unbelievable vacation at The One and Only Palmilla resort in Cabo San Lucas. It's where the stars go to get away from everyone. If you have the money, and want to be treated like royalty, go there.

DH has lived all over (Massachusetts, Alabama, Colorado, South Carolina, Florida, New York, Arkansas, currently we are in PA. Out of the country, he lived in Belgium and Guam but has vacationed in England, Germany, France, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, The Netherlands...the list goes on), and he has said that of all the places he's been, our vacation in Cabo was the best.

If you don't like Cabo, The Ritz Carlton Kapalua (Maui) is beautiful as well, but certainly is no match for The Palmilla.

I forgot to say that Charleston is where I was born and raised, so that is also high on my list as well. If you decide to go there, I would be happy to help answer any questions you might have.:goodvibes

Most major national parks do. And yes, Wilderness Lodge is styled after the national park lodges. Its quite the experience. Of course I have never stayed in them but I have walked around a few. Very nice to say the least.

Thanks, I remember that we visited some wonderful plantations and gardens but don't remember which ones now, and also it seems like there was a nearby island that we visited that was pretty also. It has been about 20 years since we have been there, but we loved it.

We did the SC Plantation Tour for our 25th anniversary and it was so lovely. I love history so it was especially nice for me.

We spent the evening of our anniversary at a resort on the Theadore River and went over to a quaint restaurant at a plantation. We were asked if we had reservations after driving up a long lane lined with luminaries. I was a bit scared but then they smiled and said they thought they could work us in. We were led through an empty restaurnt to a back room, overlooking fountains and gardens with candles flickering. The food was delicious and they gave us glasses of champagne to celebrate the occasion. Hubby got to drink both of them since I am allergic.

Oh, that sounds so lovely, do you mind my asking the name of the resort? that is really neat that you found the quaint restaurant also, do you mind telling us the name of the resturant? Sounds just like what we would enjoy. Thanks
