When your there, the Japanese prefer you to speak English to them. It is I belive a required class for students, but knowing japanese just in case wouldn't hurt.

but i guess learning it is a safe-guard thing. i dont think id want to be in a country where i couldnt understand everything. even if they all took english. its kinda like us taking spanish or french. most of us forget everything when we dont have to care about it anymore.

Yeah but the Japanese take their school work a lot more siriously than we do. That might be why they are all becoming computer scientists and stuff, and most of our dreams are to get rich and famous.
