If you could wish ONE of the following

What would YOU do?

  • Restore Maximum Operating Hours

  • Perform a Massive Transportation Upgrade

  • Promise 1 New "E" Ticket Every Year

  • Have Eisner Resign

Results are only viewable after voting.
If the "have Eisner leave" choice also included "and replace him with somebody who believes more in the classic 'Disney' way of running the parks", then that would be my choice hands down. Without knowing that, however, there's no guarantee that Eisner's replacement would be any better.

Of the other three, I would go with hours first, and transportation second, in a photo finish, with E-ticket every year a 1/2 length behind. (I'm actually not sure an E-ticket each and every year is really the "right" thing to do, but thinking purely as a guest, of course I'd love to see it happen.)

OK we're around 100 votes so far. Does this poll shed any light or hold any significance? Certainly, I know many will say no, but if you look closely at the poll what do we know? We know the poll to be at a Disney web site, so the people voting are all going to be Disney devotees. This could be significant were the questions so specific that only a disneyophile would understand or care but this poll was quite generic and I think it is significant that nearly 40% of us (the Disney geeks) find the shortend hours to pehaps be the biggest conern or have the biggest effect on us of the choices given. Certainly the poll was not all inclusive, it was structured so that one of 4 answers had to be made but I contend that with the nearly even split of three items and the highest number of votes going to one item this poll has some value.

I would say that if Disney management were reading this poll they could see that their loyal fan base (what they call the fanatics) could be quite well mollified by an increase in hours. Certainly they may be able to gleam that local attendance may certainly view hours as a consideration when deciding whether to purchase Universal/Busch of Disney AP's...

I realize there may be great disagreement with me on this but believe it or not I'd love to be schooled on this subject, so if you have any thoughts about this poll, polls in general or the ramifications of polling such a select group, have at it...I'm all ears, hehehe...

I agree with "bearzabout's post up above. Don't fix what was not broken. I want more of the old Disney magic to come back and this includes all the stuff that helped us make memories. Yeah, maybe Imagination was kind of hoaky but I loved to go on and remember my son when he was two singing and thinking the Dream Finder was real. I am sure all of us have these memories tied to certain rides but I am betting not as many of us want to remember getting sick on a roller coaster or thrill ride. How many times did we see an ad on tv from Disney tell us that we should go to WDW and make memories. Then when we want to relive them them rip the best rides out of the parks and take away that whole atmosphere we loved so much to replace it with a dollar sign and a vomit comet.

We go every year and would love at least one new E ticket ride a year. Universal seems to be able to do this, why not Disney?

This poll just illustrates the fact that the deal breaker for many was the cut in operating hours. We could put up with the loss of the Mickey butter or the chicken finger, or even the Bradley Fighting Hoovers, but the cut in operating hours is a slap in the face to customer.

My interpretation of the poll is that 60% of us would like something else fixed first. Personally, I feel that B,C & D will lead to A.

But Mr. Viking, don't you think that 40% of this particular group polled is significant? I mean, I readily admit that this probably wouldn't be the best option in the long run, but it appears that this relatively simple step may placate a rather large number of people immediately. And truth be told it would probably satisfy even more...I can't imagine Landbaron (for instance) stifiling a smile as he leaves the MK after a midnight closing;) .

Absolutely. But I personally don't think leaving the lights on longer are going to cure some of the existing problems. What happens if Disney suddenly restored all the park hours to their previous highs and the people still didn't come ? The only result would have been higher operating expenses. But new E-rides have a proven track record in boosting attendance - they create a lot more buzz then "FW open till 7:00 pm". Build the rides - and not necassarily just E-rides - and people will come. If people come, then hours should increase.

I don't think any of us would be disappointed with longer hours. But I feel longer hours without park improvement would only be a short term, feel good bandaid for the Disney fanatics.

Longer operating hours for the parks would go a long way to soothing people ruffled feathers. I never said it was the only solution.

However, what I did say is the only true path to A-B-and C is D.

My point was, that while people would've put up with butter and chicken finger issues, what was finally the last straw was cuts in the operating hours.

I think what this poll illustrates is that this board is made of two groups of people.

1. A group who's interests lie primarily in their own vacation. Most of this site deals with vacation planning, so no surprise. Hours are much more of a personal concern than who's manning the ship. What I find interesting is that when the hours discussion comes up the response is "don't complain, Disney is a business, it's only an hour, and now I can sleep in/go to bed early." Perhaps this poll, might open the door a bit to say, "Perhaps, hours really are a big deal for people."

2. The group who is also concerned about the company as a whole, and doesn't mind a little deeper cause/effect analysis to reach a conclusion that A can be acheived as a byproduct of one of the other choices.

I just hope that the "powers that be," since they are running the place, fall on the "cause/effect" analysis side, rather than a bandaid and then both groups can celebrate.

Thank You.

I can't believe that chicken finger is still coming up LOL. By the way, last time at Columbia Harbour House a couple months ago, I did get 4 LOL. I wouldn't have even counted though, had I not read that thread LOL.
