I'm so happy that the original Enchanted Tiki Room is still operational at Disneyland. They haven't changed a thing, although they really should dust everything off more often. Our game every time we go is to find any flower or bird not functioning. While we sing at the top of our lungs of course. When we saw what they did to the one at WDW, we were horrified.

Yes, the "Under New Management" thing at WDW totally took us by surprise. We had no idea until we sat down and the show started. We kept waiting for the Tiki Room song to play. Walt would be turning over in his grave.....

I would love to have seen the MK the first year it was open.

I never got to see World of Motion and would love to experience it. <y first trip was in 1996 and it was already in transformation.
I would also like to have seen The original Universe of Energy.

Wha'ts Horizons? I never got to see Epcot back in the day when it wasn't just a bunch of half empty buildings or out of date attractions. My first visit there was in 2007.

Here's a 3-part video of the best (commercially made) Horizons ride-through video I've found on YouTube. I watch it about once a month. Keeps me happy. The actual ride portion starts about 3 minutes into the first video. The first 3 minutes is an informative discussion about what the ride was, how much it cost to build, what its designer originally intended, etc. etc. The third video isn't very long, so no need to take off work tomorrow or anything.

And random nights every year that it was open.

Looks like an interesting attraction. How different is this from the um, Big Ball in front of Epcot. Sorry, only been to Epcot once and it was for about 5 hours and the Big Ball was closed for refurb.

The "Big Ball" is more of a historical look at communication on Earth and has a fairly serious narrative tone. Horizons was more light-hearted and looked at how we thought the future would look in the early 20th century, and the 2nd half of the ride is a look at what the future may very well look like from the perspective of present time. I think one of the reasons people loved the ride was because it didn't take itself too seriously and wasn't "preachy", but it still gave you the sense of everything that's possible in the world. For me, the "Big Ball" is also a moving experience, but in more of a "Wow....look at how far we've come" kind of way, which requires more of a history lesson approach.

EDIT:

I take that back. Since "The Big Ball" has been updated it's a lot less serious now. It has cartoons and is fairly light-hearted.....but in a very different....less effective way in my opinion.

I would love to have gotten to eat at the Empress Lily, but if I could turn the clocks back... maybe go back before I was created and go to the grand opening of Magic Kingdom

Turn back the clock? I would go so very far back. I'd go back to the mid 90's when they still had the double decker buses in the WS, and then the Junkanoo bus (wicked talented people there!). Back to a time when the FWF was a true festival and featured the better restaurants of WDW on a rotating basis, and there were many cooking demonstrations right in the WS (saw any number of headline chefs during those days). Back to a time when WDW was sparkling clean and any CM could answer your question about location of an attraction or other question along those lines...back to the days where WDW took real pride in the training they provided...when I saw a suit call for a clean up team minutes after a box of popcorn had been spilled.

You remember, yes? Those days of real magic and not just money grubbing?

I often think whistfully of those times. Back then all the CMs also seemed to truly love their jobs, and they were so fun to talk to, and the bus drivers nearly all had something fun to say on the rides to whereever, and the bathrooms were clean, magic happened all the time and it never felt forced or "bought" and, and , and. . .Oh I DO miss it

As far as specific things, there are lots but I will try to limit myself:

I would go back to when The Wonders of Life Pavillion was open and enjoy seeing Cranium Command again.

At the same time I would hop over to AK and see Tarzan Rocks (loved that show--still can't give Nemo a fair shake because I sit there seething that Tarzan is gone)

Then I could head back to the mid nineties and enjoy Pleasure Island when it was a fun party every nigth with live entrtainment on the outdoor stage and fireworks and the Comdey CLub and Adveturer's Club could enetertain me all night long (and I could enjoy the outdoor entertainment while I watied to get into one or the other).

I would go further back (and I would LOVE to be able to take my kids back in time to these days) and see the original Journey into Imagination with many of you, and also see Captain EO (what that the 2nd or 3rd 3-D movie?--whichever it was I loved it, and I have a young Michael Jackson fan who would adore it I am sure)

Oh, and I want to walk into Hollywood Studios once more and see the Theatre at the end of the street and feel like I am in something resembling Hollywood instead of seeing a big hat.

Yeah, I can actually understand the old and new school versions too. I guess if I had known it would have been different. I was excited to show my partner and his parents The Tiki Room, since none of them had ever seen it. I was talking up the song and everything. I know! It's always been one of my favorite attractions. It's usually the last attraction we go to before we leave for the night. Kind of a nice way to end an evening.

They didn't trust me on ANYthing I said the rest of the trip.

Hands down, riding 20,000 Leagues over, over, and over (and over).

I had completely forgotten about Horizons! 20K, though, will always be my most missed.

I'd also love to have eaten at that Diamond Horseshoe show in the MK.
