If you could pick one Value resort for one night

Ok, we just booked our plane tickets today and because of timing it looks like we are flying in a day early in November. We are booked at the WL for the original 8 days with dining plan, but since we are getting there a day early, we have to find a place to stay that night (dh doesn't want to spend money on the WL for that extra night, says we need to either stay off site or in a value).

Our flight lands in Orland around 2:30 pm. So we would have the rest of the day (we are not buying another day of tickets, since we would have to pay the full one day price) at the resort. It is myself(34), dh33, ds8 and dd6. I'm thinking that night we may go over to the Fort Wilderness campfire and movie.

If you had to pick a value resort for just one day (not even a full 24 hours) what would you pick?

We have done this same thing... a value for one night in 2004. I picked POP for no other reason than it was the newest. We liked it there! It seems to be a cult favorite. ;)

I've never stayed in a value resort, however, with everything I've heard about it I planned a trip to stay at POP this coming December. I have heard very little negative. I've heard more neg. about the "All Stars" So my vote is for POP.

We're spending our first night at Pop, then moving to YC for 6 nights. Pop looks like a lot of fun, and for about $78 it gets us to WDW a day earlier:). We're not going to any parks that day, either. Exploring the resort, swimming, and maybe a trip to DTD are all we have planned.

It was so much cheaper to fly in a day earlier, I added a night at the Pop to our Disney vacation. We then move over to POR for 5 nights. The flight does not arrive until 730 pm, and I couldn't see spending the extra money for a mod. Plus, I was worried that we would end up with a less than great room if we checked into POR that late.

All Star Movies was great. I'd like to try POP. Here is a link to everything about the value resorts, pics, reviews, etc. then you can see for yourself and choose. http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.htm you can click on any resort on the left and see pics of the rooms, front desk, pools, outside, etc. read reviews and everything. It is great.;)

Pop will probably be the easiest resssie to get. Really, you'd be fine with any of them!

If your extra night involves a Sun-Thur you should look into renting a DVC studio for the night. They run about $100-130 during value season. If available, it would be very convenient for you to stay @ WLV.

We live in S.Florida and stay several times a year; so we are "budget" oriented to be able to do this so often. We like all star music(out of the all stars). The Movies was always much busier with more smaller children- we have a 12 yr. old- and more "used". Movies does have a more interesting food court. Music is quieter with a nice main pool(DD likes the Donald fountain) and seemed cleaner each time. We always choose music over sporta or movies- but for 1 night, if you have a child very young- movies not bad choice. POP is kinda cool but no pool fountain.

1 night will be fine wherever you go, remember- no fridge in the POP or All stars! ENMJOY...:wizard:

If it was for just one night and I could get two connecting rooms at a good price, then I would pick Pop. My family is too big in size to be sleeping in twin beds.

Thanks for all the replies. Pop and ASMo were the two I was originally debating between. I made the ressie today for ASMo, pretty much because of the movie theme and my kids. If I was going to be staying there for more than one night, I probably would have gone with POP, since I've read so many good things about it. But for less than 24 hours, I thought the kids would like the theming of movies.

I will say the idea of renting points for VWL intrigued me, but I have no idea how to do that. Maybe I'll look into it, ressies can always be changed :goodvibes

Thanks again for all the advice.

Just go to the DVC Rent/Trade Board and look at some of the posts. You can either start a thread looking for points to rent, or reply to an owner that is looking for a home for their points. At the very top of the page there are some links to the DVC point charts...you can look at them to see how many points you would need for your stay. Points generally run from $10/pt and higher. Every now and again you can find someone that prices their points a little lower. The price per point is all you pay -- no room taxes or anything.
