which one would it be? We are traveling to Disney in September on a limited budget so I will be cooking most of our meals, but I would like to have dinner out one night in Disney. It will be my husband, myself, and our daughter's(2 & 4). I'm completely overwhelmed by all the choices. Any recommendations?

Of the ones we've done, Le Cellier remains as must do, as well as Biergarten...they are just our family favorites  Le Cellier has great food and atmosphere and Biergarten has giant beers and an oompa band so the kiddos can dance!!! What more can you ask for?? :cloud9:

Chef Mickeys at CR. We only did one character meal on our first trip and this was it so that the kids could meet all the main characters. Make sure to make ADRs in advance.

Considering the ages of your girls, I would recommend a character meal. Maybe Akershus? Or if you want to splurge a bit more, Cinderella's Castle. It'll be worth the smiles on their faces!!!

If you are only doing one restaurant, given the ages of your children, I would echo the previous poster and say Chef Mickey's. This ensures that they see and meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy.

If they are really princess focused, then I'd recommend Akershus. Breakfast is the safest meal foodwise, and you get a picture with a princess (usually Belle) and then other princesses come to the table. On both our trips, we had Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel and Sleeping Beauty come to the table. The picture with Belle is included with the price of the meal.

Good Luck.

Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends:) Great food and great character interaction:)

I agree, it is completely overwhelming. After many trips and lots of dining experiences, we are still overwhelmed planning each trip. Are you looking for good food, or the overall experience? For girls your girls' ages:

Cinderella's Royal Table would be a splurge, but IMO, worth it for little girls. The food is meh, but the experience is priceless! Otherwise, Akershus has the experience of meeting princesses, but at a lower cost (IMO, the atmosphere is not as great, but as you have never been to either, your girls wouldn't notice the difference).

Chef Mickey's along with a ride on the monorail or a boat ride over to WL and back. Some two-year-olds are afraid of the characters, though. Again, food is hit-or-miss. We have had several pretty good experiences and one pretty awful one (food-wise).

Crystal Palace has a gorgeous atmosphere with and Pooh and Friends and has a decent buffet at any meal, again characters in big costumes.

'Ohana has a fun dinner, and at the Poly you can see the EWP (9PM, if they stay up that late) and watch Wishes across the lagoon, or breakfast with Lilo and Stitch plus Mickey and Pluto; it's also on monorail. This is one of my family's personal favorite dinner experiences.

Les Chefs de France in Epcot is one of our favorites, and we think it's a very good value. If you go at the right time, you can see Remy, who is adorable!

Since you have your daughters if you are looking for a character meal I would do Chef Mickeys , your daughters would really enjoy it, another restaurant we never miss is Le Cellier, its wonderful and pretty easy with kids... we also always eat a the coral reef which has excellent food and the kids enjoy watching all the fish in the tanks (anything that provides distractions for the kids is always a good thing! )

'Ohana has the best food in my opinion. They also have activities for the kids. No characters though. If you are looking for characters and don't care about the food being top notch then Chef Mickeys.

Due to the kids' ages and cost factor, I would say the Crystal Palace would be a good fit. The food is pretty good and I would do an early ressie to get in to MK before it opens. Breakfast is cheaper, you get Main Street all to yourselves (almost) and you can be in the park when it opens!

Ditto Sue and Eeyore.....

CRT or Alkershus....
Both are in parks so you don't have to travel...

Both are Princess meals....

CRT is a family tradition for us... but if you don't have the $ to splurge on it.. then Alkershus would be a good option as well...

Have a magical visit !

I would say Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary.

-offers an expansive buffet, really something for everyone

-has all the classic Disney characters- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto & Donald

-provides an opportunity to ride the monorail :)

Me, I'd go to Crystal Palace for breakfast. Fantastic characters for your little girls, and you'd get to eat the puffed french toast. Yummmmm.

Next trip, I'm going to schedule the latest possible breakfast at CP: hit the park at rope drop and go-go-go until it's time to eat. Can't wait!

Thanks everyone for the replies. I wasn't planning on doing a character meal, just a fun dinner out somewhere, but after all the responses I think I've decided to do Alkershus. My girls like Mickey and Minnie but LOVE the princesses. It will be a dream come true for them. I can't wait to see their reactions when we go.:goodvibes

If it were us it would be Cinderella's Royal table! But If you wanted a less expensive option I would say Akershus royal dinning in Norway!

We went to Akershus last June and the food was very good. It is promoted as a taste of Norway but there is truly something for everyone there. DH and I had seafood which was divine and my 12 year old son had the roast chicken which was very good. The appetizer offerings were wonderful as well so we really left there stuffed and satisfied.

The place is hopping with Princesses so you get a lot of character interaction for your buck $$!

I have a feeling that your family is going to love Akershus!

Have a great trip...

I would agree with the majority of this post for sure. We just returned from WDW on Jan. 27th. With kids I would highly recommend CP and CM but the two restaurants I really enjoyed during my stay (besides the ones listed in the previous post) were 50's prime Time Cafe in HWS and Liberty Tree Tavern in Frantier land. 50's had a great, easy-going atmosphere with great servers and food. We had one of the best meals at Liberty Tree as well. It comes to your table family style and you can serve your children.

Aside from 'Ohana, if it were just me and my wife I would go back to the Rose and Crown in the U.K. pavilion in Epcot any day of the week. We had a table on the back deck for illuminations and their pan roasted cornish game hen was the best meal I had during my entire vacation.

I hope you guys have a great time!
