If you could only choose one..

but the recipe came from my Mom, now long gone..her version has currants in it, does yours?..and they ALWAYS have to have the glazed topping tinted pink, or it doesn't seem like Christmas! My husbands favorite are his great grandmothers sugar cookies, cookie cutter shapes, decorated or frosted, in fact we just made 2 batches of these the other nite..thanks for starting this thread, C.Ann, it brought back lotsf memories!
Happy Holidays!

i've never seen a teacake recipe with currants in it or a glazed topping! sounds yummy! mine are just plain teacakes, but DH LOVES them.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Struffoli dripping in honey and sprinkles. It's always such a pain to make but sooooo yummy

I'm enjoying reading about everyone's favorite cookies!! :thumbsup2

I know it's tough - choosing only one - even for me, but I think it would be coconut macaroons - only if made using the Duncan Hines Sugar Cookie mix in a box.. Soooooo good!! :thumbsup2

If I couldn't find the DH mix (and there have been years when I couldn't), I would go with the "snowballs" (almond nuts inside - which I have to grind to a powder for medical reasons - almond flavoring; a Bisquick dough; and rolled in powdered sugar after they're done baking).. Yum!!

What would you choose?
:santa:

Thx C.Ann :thumbsup2. I will have to try coconut macaroon cookies w/sugar cookie mix, as they are DH's very favorites...well, along w/ginger snaps!! :goodvibes

Ooooh, would you share the recipe??

My choice is Magic Cookie Bars. Yummers :)

Sure! Here's the recipe:

Root Beer Float Cookies

1 C. butter, at room temperature
1 C. granulated sugar
1 C. packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1/2 C. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp milk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tsp. root beer concentrate
3 1/2 C. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1 1/2 C. white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place butter and sugars in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer at medium speed, cream. Beat in egg. Continue to beat until mixture is fluffy. Beat in oil, milk, vanilla and root beer concentrate.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Add to butter mixture and mix until combined. Fold in white chocolate chips.

Drop about 2 tablespoons of dough at a time onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes on the cookie sheet and then remove them to a wire rack to cool completely.

This makes a ton! I like to make up a batch, and freeze the dough balls, so I have some in my freezer during the holiday season. I do this with all my drop cookie recipes. Then, I can just pull out however many I need at a time! Great time saver!

The only ones I've made (the macaroons) that don't stick to the pan.. I don't think the recipe is on the box though - will see if I can dig it up later if you would like..

Do you (or anyone) have a recipe for soft ginger snaps/cookies? I love them (and they're good for an upset stomach), but I need mine to be soft..:goodvibes

C.ann I don't know if your snowball cookies are the same as Mexican Wedding Cakes but those are my favorite! I use ground walnuts instead.

My favorite is on my DSIL makes every year. Its like an iced mexican wedding cake with a cherry inside. I have never made them, but I love them.

DHs favorite is a nanaimo bar. His grandmother use to make them for him every year and this year I told him I would make them for him. I really don't like them, but he loves them.

Thanks a bunch!! They sound yummy!!!

I would have to say my mom's dulce de leche bars. soo good. They are shortbread with a caramel middle and then some kind of chocolate on top. my mom won't share the recipe. they are top secret. so i can only have them once a year.

I love the big thick soft sugar cookie with thin vanilla icing on top. A student gave me one today. Yummy! :goodvibes

Well it looks like I'm using pecans this year - LOL.. Just checked my ingredients this afternoon and no almonds.. I've done it before though (also with the walnuts you mentioned) and they'll still taste fine - as long as I get that almond flavoring in there (I always use more than the recipe calls for ;) )-plenty of flavorings on hand..:thumbsup2

c ann. where have you been baby. i have missed you. nice to have you back. thought maybe that you fell into the lake...

Santa's Shortbread cookies! Soooooo very good!

Pfeffernusse cookies. Definitely my favorite Christmas cookie. For the rest of the year I'll go with peanut butter

I don't know if I can pick just one.

One of my favorites that we make every year are called zebra cookies.

It is the cookie with the kiss idea, but the dough is chocolate, rolled in powdered sugar, then you use a Hug in the middle (the white chocolate striped with milk chocolate). YUM
