So we are trying to decide when in 2015 to go. When would you go if your kids could miss school? Would like to avoid crowds and extreme heat. Thanks

We have found these times to be optimal for visits. We still end up having to work around school commitments for the most part. But these times are terrific IMHO --- early February before Presidents' Day weekend; most of May before Memorial Day weekend; early to mid November and December. I have found September to be nice crowd-wise, but still too warm for my taste. You do sacrifice time in the parks due to earlier closing hours. But the lines are not as long and you may really luck out on weather. And Disney always has special events taking place. Take a look at the events calendar to help in your planning.

The end of September was a great time for us a few years back. Low humidity, warm, dry weather, less crowds and Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party. We even caught day one of the Food and Wine Fest.

Thank you. Keep suggestions/ experiences coming. My Initial thoughts were late oct early November. Or first week in dec.

It depends. Do you only care about low crowds or will weather be an issue for you. I found mid-November to be really slow but a little cool at night. It was totally doable for water rides in the afternoon however. The pool in the evening? Not so much. But the hot tub was nice at BCV. We couldn't use the hot tubs at Stormalong Bay since they ALL were awaiting heating elements per maintenance and were about the same temp as the pools.

Low Crowds are very Important. However I would like to have a couple pool afternoons/ evenings for my daughter to swim.

We always travel late sept and although crowds are low it is so hot, so if that's an issue for you, stay clear of sept. The humidity is very high still. We have recently changed our yearly trips to November and the weather is just right along with crowds. I've been old mid to late oct the weather is nice also but crowds have picked up a bit in oct due to fall breaks in some states.

I'd say late jan. Or early nov. Or early dec for 70s in temps and low crowds :)

You can catch mickeys very merry Christmas party in nov and dec. it's some what like mickeys not so scary Halloween party.

We went the week AFTER Thanksgiving once. Crowds were moderate to low, parks were decorated for Christmas, and the weather was warm enough to swim but not so hot and humid. Now, if only the prices were better....

The very last week of January & first week of February. Very low crowds but the weather can be downright cool (freeze warnings at night). OR, first 2 weeks of December. Weather is usually still pretty good.

However, our favorite time of year is mid-October. Halloween Party, low crowds usually but watch for some schools that have a break Columbus week, and Food & Wine Fest. 2nd favorite time of year is right around Easter (April). yes, the crowds can be big, but the parks have long, long hours so you can either go early or late, and the weather is perfect. Flower & Garden festival and perfect weather.

November is great. Just avoid Jersey week, the end of Food and Wine, and Thanksgiving. Either go the first week of Nov. or between veterans day and the saturday before Thanksgiving. Everything is decorated for Christmas and no rides are being refurbed as they gear up for the holiday crowds. The trees are turning and its just lovely weather. Crowds have gone up a bit (they used to be absolutely dead then) but its still very manageable.
I've been in Jan-Feb and the weather is very dicey then and a lot of things go down for rehab, including a lot of the hotel pools. There is scrim everywhere and if they've had a hard freeze all the grass is brown. Very low crowds then, but for a reason!

Third week of November is very good for crowds (preceeding Thanksgiving). Weather is just, well, either fabulous or cool at night. I wouldn't mind doing it again but because I am doing a multi-park stay and want to do HHN at Universal this trip, I chose late October. Not as slow but also very good.

My family usually takes trips to Disney in the summer or February break. In the summer it can be hot, but you can stay for however long and not worry about school although it is hot. During February break the weather is perfect, but the crowds can be tough.

If I could take a trip and not worry about school, I would go in October. I would love to see all of the Halloween decorations, and characters dressed up in costumes. I would go during the week instead of the weekend because it might be less crowded.

Depending on when Thanksgiving falls, I'd say the week before or the week after Thanksgiving week but not the week OF Thanksgiving. I'd also suggest early December.

You have great weather, needing only a light jacket in the evenings. Low crowds. Christmas Decorations up and all the special holiday activities to choose from: Candlelight Processional, MVMCP, Osbourne Lights, Santas at Epcot, including a great one for a photo op, special treats, music, etc. And it's a great way to kick off the holiday season and start feeling festive. Plus, you have the excitement of Christmas to look forward to, to help you beat the post Disney blahs.
