We will be staying at the BC for the first time this trip and would like to walk over to EPCOT world showcase on the first evening we are there for dinner...this is probably the only time we will eat a sit down at EPCOT. We are a family of me (who likes everything except fish) DH who loves good food (especially steak) and 2 DD who can be pleased almost anywhere if there is some good entertainment or an active atmosphere of some type....

any suggestions to help us...

thanks:jester:

Well I would say Akershus but they have a lot of fish dishes. I don't eat fish but there are many other things to pick from. A better place for you though would be restaurant Marrakesh. The have some exotic things to pick from but also have chicken and steak kabobs and rice and cous cous. The restaurant is very beautiful and you feel as if you are in a Palace. There is also the musicians and the belly dancer for entertainment.

As far as food goes, none of the Epcot restaurants can top Le Cellier (of course this is just my opinion ;) ). They have yummy breadsticks in three flavors, the best cheese soup, and incredible filets. Every appetizer I have tried there has been wonderful. And if you can save room, their desserts are even good. I don't know how this fits the bill as far as entertainment or active atmosphere, but for great food it can't be beat!!!

I would have to agree that LeCellier would be a great choice for you judging from the sound of the party's tastes in general. I have not eaten there in a long time but I do recall it being very good. It's very much a steakhouse and it's very popular. Priority Seatings are very highly recommended if you know that's where you want to go.
I went with a friend and was turned away b/c it was so busy. I never recall that happening before anywhere else with just a party of two.

I have to say I have been dissapointed with Marakesh whenever I have gone. The food is flat and uninspired; probably to suit the more generic American palate! Tangierine Cafe is a good spot for after dinner coffee and a piece of baklava.

Hope that helps you out a bit.

We ate at several Epcot restaurants during our two week trip. In fact, after seven trips, we finally tried Le Cellier. The food was good but it was so shockingly noisy in there that I couldn't wait to leave! Maybe it was the room we were seated in. We also ate at Alfredo's and really didn't enjoy it. The waiter kept giving us the hard sell on everything, and the food was just too rich. We love Coral Reef, but their best dishes are fish. So, I'd recommend Rose & Crown. We've always had a good meal there, and you can try for a patio table. By the way, we really enjoyed the buffet at Cape May at the Beach Club. Diana

I would dine at Akershus without hesitation but I agree that Le Cellier sounds like the perfect restaurant for your party. Rose & Crown might work too.

Another vote for Le Cellier. Cheese soup is out of this world and the steaks are fab too!!!!

In addition to the above suggestions, I'd also suggest considering the Teppanaki Steakhouse (Japan), especially if you're interested in some entertainment with dinner. We eat here every trip and really enjoy it. And the chefs always put on a good show.

Another vote for Le Cellier! DH and I just loved this place and can't wait to go back.

Now, we also liked Rose and Crown and intend on returning, but I still prefer Le Cellier as my #1 pick!

I second the Marakesh motion. We always want to try things we can't get at home. Ask for a table near the belly dancer.

I would also recommend Le Cellier! They have an excellent kid's menu which is more than the standard pizza, PBJ, burger, mac n' cheese and also special kids desserts. As I recall, DD had a mini steak, DS a steak-burger.

You and DH will have plenty to choose from -- the steaks are great and not as pricey as other places on-site. They also have pasta dishes, surf n'turf, etc.

We did not find it "too" noisy, although it was filled to capacity. The place "bustles" with activity. Still had to wait 15 minutes even with a PS, and this was late August, at 5:30 p.m.

thanks for the menu link, I have printed out menus for all of the suggested places and will make my husband decide since we are doing this meal mostly for him..He is has been wanting a good meal to balance out all of the character meal buffets..

...does Le cellier have any "entertainment" for the kids...I like the idea of the Japanese place for the entertaining chefs or perhaps Morocco for the belly dancers. Wondering if anything similiar for Canada???

thank you all for your opinions!!!!

Sorry, no enteraintment at Le Cellier but I think she got crayons to color with. Alos, make sure you order your DD a chocolate moose for dessert - it comes out as a moose head (It was the main reason I got a PS there:p ).

I know you asked for a dinner suggestion but with your screen name I would think you have to breakfast in Norway. Your DD will love it.

Sandy

Another vote for Le Cellier here! We eat there at least once each trip. The cheddar cheese soup & breadsticks are yumbo!

We love the food at Le Cellier but there is no entertainment. I would recommend Teppanyaki. The chefs are entertaining and the beef tenderloin is WONDERFUL

My DH has been wanting to try Teppanyaki for years. Perhaps I will surprise him! I have a question, have you ever tried the chestnut mousse for dessert? It sounds icky! LOL!

Love Le Cellier and Marrakesh, but our family tradition from trip #1 has been Teppanyaki for our final evening at WDW. Give it a try; you will love it.

I love Le Cellier also (always get the mushroom filet) and had been hesitant to try Teppanyaki because the food sounds so plain. Finally one day on our last trip in January it was freezing out and we wanted a break from the cold and managed to get seated w/o a PS. I was expecting it to be mediocre, but warm. Boy, was I surprised! It was warm, but far from mediocre. The food is pretty basic (ie not gourmet) but very nicely seasoned and the quality of the ingredients they start with is phenominal... so good that the fact that it was somewhat "plain" didn't bother me one bit. Just be aware that you will be seated with another family (I think each "table" holds 8) but the chefs are extremely entertaining and the food is just delicious.

I think Le Cellier is still my favorite, but I would not hesitate to recommend Teppanyaki as a place that combines the best of both worlds... food and entertainment. I did try the chestnut mousse (was the most interesting sounding thing on the menu) and I remember it being unimpressive. It's not icky but I wouldn't order it again.
