If you could create the new ride at Disney..

I've always had a soft spot for the classics. I have an idea for a Sleeping Beauty dark-ride. I think the battle against the dragon has all kinds of potential!

That would be my choice - I think the end battle could be really great!

2nd choice would be a new version of Soarin' - maybe a film that features all the countries of World Showcase.

I like the feel of the train that takes you to Rafiki's Planet Watch. I feel like I am in colonial Africa. I think it would be fun to have a smaller roller coaster or faster train ride taking you through the wilds of the Congo Jungle.

If we want to add a coaster to Epcot, what about something related to the Matterhorn? There would be the tie-in with DL and Walt's original thinking, the international tie-in with the Alps, and it could be a really high-tech, cutting edge coaster for the teens and thrill junkies! If memory serves, one of the Pavillions- Germany? Italy?- was originally supposed to have a ride-through dark ride, like HM or something (my memory doesn't serve too well these days...) so there should be space out behind that area, and it's the logical spot for an Alps-related coaster.

Sounds wonderful to me.

Definitely. I love UP too! I think that would make a great ride. You could definitely translate the concept of flying to a story, instead of just "over California." (Don't get me wrong, I like Soarin'... I just wish it was different from the one at DCA. At least "Soarin' over the Southeast" or something.)

I agree. I don't understand why there is a ride that glorifies California in Florida. I love the concept of the ride but would like to broaden the scope. If I remember correctly, many, many years ago there was a Circlevision 360 movie in Tomorrowland that featured landmarks and beautiful landscapes from all over America--America the Beautiful? I'd like to see Soarin' take on a theme like this, focusing on the whole country rather than just one state. Flying over Mount Rushmore, the Rocky Mountains, Washington, D.C., New York City, with grand finale fireworks in Disney World-- so cool.

1. I would change the Tomorrowland Speedway to fit with (Cars) the landscape would be changed to Radiator Springs. Using the characters from the films that would even allow Tow Mater to go backwards for part of the experience.

i want a TRON based ride...how cool would that be?!?! maybe be a simulator like star tours...rollin against the light cycles or something.

"Up" themed cable-car ride over a new South America section of Animal Kingdom. Rather than rehash the movie, the story should be that Carl is taking Russell back to Paradise Falls to get his "exotic animal watching" badge, and the speakers in your house-themed car would have dialogue between Russell and Carl explaining what the various Amazonian wildlife was. Then you could deal with another poacher looking for Kevin and follow her back to the labyrinth before returning home. Maybe a little too similar to Kilimanjaro Safaris' story, but using cable cars would be a very neat modification.

EDIT: Actually, even better, rather than Russell going for his badge in exotic animal watching, the guests would be new members of Russell's troop, and they're taking you along to get your first Wilderness Explorer badge! Dug would be on the ground, also broadcasting comments up to the house. CMs operating the line would be dressed as Wilderness Explorer leaders, and guests would get an animal watching booklet to fill out and keep, and could then get their badge at the post-ride gift shop. More interactive, kids love it, Disney makes more money off merchandise, everyone wins!

I totally agree about Wall-E...he really does get left out, and although there is some merchandise out there, there isn't enough. Maybe the ride could incorporate conservation, since that's a central theme of the movie? I also think that Stitch needs a better ride, and something for UP would also be cool...

I think they need more coasters. I don't care about the theme but something a little more thrilling then what they offer now and it would help keep people from doing the universal switch once their kids turn 9. I know that's where we will go when our boys outgrow Disney!

I'm going to be really greedy and take all (ok any 3) of the above. Preferences in order would be
1 Wall-e
2 Tron
3 cars
:)

Love this topic... I personally love the feel of the older, animatronic-based dark rides and at this point in my life I really hate feeling like I am going to vomit after a ride, or getting a headache. Splash Mountain is kind of perfect for me in that sense - just enough thrill and tons of theming. I would love something creepy but not scary - if you know what I mean. Like the difference between the movie "The Others" and "Halloween." I've been to haunted houses that scared the be-jeezus out of me and I'm not really into that. Haunted Mansion however is just plain old fun. I love ToT until the end - could totally and completely do without the drop. So some kind of dark ride that kind of messes with you a little - creates an unsettling atmosphere without freaking you out. I can see a ride having aspects of some of the kiddie - coasters working here - just enough twisting, turning and dropping to make it fun but not nauseating. Actually - I can see a ride themed on Alice in Wonderland. Does that already exist somewhere? If they could recreate the sensation of floating down instead of falling down a rabbit hole, that would be amazing.

PS - love the idea of creating an experience based on "Lost!"

I actually prefer the rides that aren't associated with any particular Disney film/television show/etc. To me, they carry their own identity that's unique to the park. Some examples: Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, Maelstrom. I would include Haunted Mansion and Pirates in there as well, since the films came long after the ride.
A fantastic point and an idea I hadn't even considered.

I'd like to see a fast ride for Monster's Inc. in which you're hanging onto a door zipping around trying to find Boo's Door! Maybe the ride could have the track on the top so your feet could hang.

Also, Cinderella is a bit over-looked. Other than the carosel, it would be nice to see a ride similar to Winnie the Pooh for her.

Your idea is EXCELLENT!!!! I really hope that a Disney exec sees this and contact you! If there was a "like" or "love" button on your post, I would've selected it! :thumbsup2

I like your idea too! I hate trying to be brave to ride something, and/or feeling sick afterwards. I love Dinosaur cuz is a fun kind of scary! We need more rides for people like us! :woohoo:
