If you bring your own stroller to Disney...

We haven't ever had a problem. We never leave anything valuable in it, but sometimes just a blanket or something like that. We label our stroller and I think it helps that it's bright red, so it's easy to find in the sea of blue Disney strollers.

If you're *really* concerned and want to deter someone from stealing your stroller or contents, I've heard of one "trick" if you have the courage/sense of humour for it!

Take a CLEAN diaper, fold it up as if it was used, stick it in a clear bag and attach it to your stroller (throw in a little coloured liquid for added effect if desired!). That tends to keep strangers away from your stroller. Yikes!

:santa:

Our girls are almost 7yrs apart and we've taken our own strollers with both of them except one year when my oldest was 4.5, we actually rented stroller once inside the parks. This year will be no different then the previous years, we'll be bringing our own for our 2.5 yr old. We've never had any problems with our stroller; the only time it was moved was when the CM's needed to move them. Now, after that being said we never leave any personal items in the stroller when going on attractions, seeing shows or dining that we wouldn't want to be stolen. We may leave things like our water bottles, maps, or other small items, no problem but things like our camera, phones, expensive sunglasses and the like are usually in a bag that we take with us when we're not going to have the stroller with us.

I think you should be fine. Bring your own and save tons of money in the process.

Last year, early June, we had a couple of thefts from our strollers in Epcot. It all happened on the same day in different areas. The first time they stole the batteries out of one of those water squirting fans. About an hour later, we actually had someone steal a whole fan. Of course they took the one that had batteries. We told a security guard but there wasn't much he could do about it. He gave us a claim # and we went to guest services but they told us that they are not responsible for personal property. What made it even more annoying was that the kids had used their own money to buy the fans as souviners. :sad2: So everyone, make sure you take everything with you... It didn't even help that we pretty much "tied" the fan strap around the handle of the stroller many times. Someone wanted it bad enough that they stood there and took the time to "untie" it.

We've never had a problem and we're dumb enough to leave our cameras (digital and video) in the stroller!

We have never had any problems with things taken from our stroller either at Disney or Universal. You do need to distinguish it from all the other strollers-we usually use a balloon or streamers tied to the handle-something that can be spotted easily. CM's do tend to move the stollers all around!!! This year we not only have a stroller to keep up with, but my ECV too!!!:scared1:

Good luck and have a safe trip!!!!:thumbsup2

We've never had any problems in the past 3 yrs with taking our Maclaren stroller. We don't leave anything valuable in it-usually just extra sunscreen/misting fans....

However, now with the stroller rental increase, I'm curious as to what will happen if people get desperate for a stroller because Disney strollers are too $$$$$.....

I had this same question a month ago, and one of the best pieces of advise we received was to leave a (fake) dirty diaperin the stroller. So that is was we are doing - we are placing a diaper in a blue bag (we use them at home and around town to place dirty diapers in) and placing it in a noticable place. Last night we even discussed using this same trick for saving chairs at BB.

I also made a laminated 4 inch Mickey icon with our name and information on it to tie to the stroller as well as a Pooh bandana I bought at a craft store.

Never had an issue in 6 trips. We have a Mac so not just a cheapie.

We take our own everytime and when we use our own expensive single strollers (Orbit & Bugaboo) we never park them outside we use them mainly for our walking days for each kids comfort or when the baby has had enough of his toddler brother using him for an arm rest.

We use an Aria double for the days we know we'll be riding lots of rides, etc. There are about 500 per day in each park it seems no one is temted to do anything w/it as far as we've seen but we don't leave anything of value in it either. I have seen Bugs parked outside of rides but i've also read that some have 'walked away' w/o their owners too. I agree with som eother posters that as the prices rise for rentals you kind of wonder what will happen then when people won't want to pay for them.

I think what they are charging is insane. My DH and i were talking and you could order online espically form a place like Albeebaby.com ship the stroller to the resort pick it up use it for a week, donate it write it off your taxes and fly home.

I've always taken my own stroller and I have never had a problem of theft with it. I left expensive items in it like my camera and portable dvd player and dvd's. I would put them in a bag so it's not like they were in direct eye sight of a potential theif. Most of the times I took the bag with me but there were times when I left it in the stroller.

We never had a problem...if someone wants out diapers and wipes do badly they can have them! :confused3

I didn't have my stroller "stolen" but it was taken by mistake. Of course, I didn't have any identifying features on it, and it was parked near a restaurant. When we came out, we saw another Macleran (same style/color) as ours, but definitely NOT ours! I waited about 45 minutes for the owner to come back, as we figured that they had accidentally taken ours. We brought theirs to guest services, and since they had the Magical Express luggage tag still on their stroller, I was able to call their resort and leave a message for them at their hotel room. Luckily, the next morning we got a call from the family apologizing! We told their where their stroller was and they left ours at the check-in at their hotel.

Lesson learned? ALWAYS add identifying features to your stroller! We are bringing down leis with us and decorating the stroller with them! This way there will hopefully not be any misidentifications! And I also added a luggage tag to the strollers with my name and cell phone number. You can't be too careful.

I've never had any problems at Disney. However, when we picked up our stroller in Florida at the gate, it was broken. The airline is not liable either. They will only pay you if it is lost, not broken. It was only a $39 stroller so it was no big deal, but this is why I would not suggest bringing a really nice stroller with you.

never had an issue of someone taking the stroller or anything in it....I do sometimes have a hard time finding it when CMs move it !!!!!!

Peanut- We gate checked our stroller one year and it came back up broken when we arrived in Florida. We went to the Delta baggage claim office and they mailed us a check for 250.00 for the broken stroller. I bought a new one in Florida and faxed them the recipet.

This really surprises me but I am very glad for you. On the slip that they gave us it said that the airlline is only responsible for lost, not damaged strollers. Oh well....like I said, it was just a cheapie anyawy.

Peanut- Did you fly Delta? They gave us no problem at all. It was a travel system and where it broke I could not have clicked in the carseat.
