If you bought Aulani, did you get 2011 points?

This post is directed to owners of Aulani only.

1. What month is your use year? (I am hoping to hear from Feb, Mar, Apr UY owners.)
2. Did you get 2011 Aulani points?

My UY is April. I'm concerned that if I buy Aulani I may not get 2011 Aulani points.

PS: I am in Canada - one of the unreg'd provinces - so I can't just call my guide for details. I wish I could!

We bought Aulani, and our use year is Dec.1....we will not get our first points until Dec. 2011, but were told we can borrow if we want to go before our use year comes.

If anyone has bought Aulani with a February, March or April UY, can you please tell me if you received 2011 Aulani points?

(It appears that those who bought Aulani with June through December UYs have received 2011 points.)

I'm not an Aulani owner, so I know I'll be smacked.

But, I am an AKV owner with an April UY. But because the resort wasn't in existence until after April, I did not receive points for that year. I'd be surprised if a similar doesn't situation exist with Aulani.

Well, I just got off of the phone with DVC and yes, you will get 2011 UY points at Aulani, but you can't use them until after the resort opens in August.

I know I won't get 2010 points for Aulani as it isn't open until August 2011.

AKV purchasers of Kidani got 2008 points for October UYs even though Kidani didn't open until May 2009. BLT purchasers got 2009 points for all UYs even though it wasn't open until September 2009. The same did not hold true for VGC purchasers, so I am wondering what an Aulani purchase will do for me.

PS: I need 250 Aulani points for a Dec 2011 booking. I intend to buy 125 points this year (I can't do more than that). I am HOPING that I can get 125 Aulani points from 2011 (to use in addition to 125 Aulani points borrowed from 2012) or my Aulani trip isn't going to happen - and its my FIL's 80th birthday. He's always wanted to go to Hawaii and this is the only way I can make it happen. I won't be able to speak to my guide until December this year during my WDW trip, so I can't do any financial or vacation planning for Aulani until the end of this year.

We bought 165 Aulani points. We are going to borrow our 2012 points for a 1 BR, week long stay in September. I'm hoping for Ocean view (which is how we came up with 165 - 322 is a week long ocean view 1BR in September) but not sure there will be that category in phase 1.

I hope you get it. Ocean View makes up 80% of the room views, so getting a 1BR with OV sounds pretty likely.

The occupancy date of the Unit you purchase may play a role here as well. I don't know when Aulani opens but let's say for example you get April 2011 points but your Unit's occupancy date is Sep 1, 2011. In that case you cannot use those points to stay at Aulani or any other DVC resort prior to Sep 1, 2011. You can book the stay in advance of course but your earliest check-in date would be the day your Unit opens for occupancy. Again, I don't know the real dates for Aulani but it is something you may need to take into consideration depending upon when you would like to use your first points.

Good point. Until we see our guide, we won't know for certain what our unit's occupancy date is.
