I am such an animal lover, so it's really hard for me to understand anyone not loving them like I do, but I'm interested -

If you don't really care for animals, why? Please share.:D

I don't have any pets so maybe that's why I'm not an animal lover. I have a fish and I am very attached to him though!!

I can't imagine living in a world without my pets.:( I think I would feel totally "lost" without my 2 cats.:(

There are so many people such as the elderly that get so much out of having a pet. They're also known to lower your blood pressure and calm you down aftyer a hard day. They always love you unconditionally......whether you're down or haven't done your hair etc!;)

Just my 2 cents.:teeth: :sunny:

Can't speak for myself because I am an animal lover, but my Mom isn't. I can explain her point of view. As a child, she was bitten TWICE by a dog, and it scared her greatly. To this day, she's terrified of animals. She doesn't wish harm to them, just doesn't want anything to do with them.

Well I personally don't care to much for people who don't like animals..........I used to have 9 cats, 4 dogs,2 birds, a prairie dog and a man, and when people would comment I would " ask and who do you think is going first?" of course the man and the birds cause they do the most squawking! All my critters have lived long lives although now I am down to 4 cats, 2 birds and a dog..........one of my cats is almost 20! I tend to not like people who do not like animals, I guess because most people that do truly love animals are usually very compassionate, and I believe that God not only put people here he put animals and we should be grateful for the companionship and love they give us. And actually I like animals better than alot of people, they forgive and they love unconditionally..............well as long as their food bowl is full..............but I guess I didn't really answer your post........since I love my fur babies and just about everyone elses too!

I don't love animals. I like them, ok, but reserve feelings like love for people. Honestly, I don't know why I feel this way. Maybe it's because my son and I are allergic to cats, and my younger son is severely allergic to dogs. A dog lick will make him swell up and get hives. Until we realized how severe his allergy is, I never noticed how many people just let their dogs run loose.

My husband must feel the same way about pets. He chose me over his cat.

I also don't understand the people who love pets to such an extreme that they will let them overrun the whole house. There should be a legal limit to how many pets a person can have per square foot, and I think there is such a law in some places.

I could say the same about children!

I'm talking about the people you see on the news who have 20 cats and 15 dogs living in a cesspool house. Somewhere along the line they started out as animal lovers, but then they got carried away. How does that happen?

For the record, I don't mind the Monty dog threads, but I've only opened two.

I do not care to have pets and neither does DH. We are both busy people with full schedules, and we both do a lot of volunteer work with kids' school and Scouts. It is not uncommon for us to be gone from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening camping or visiting my sister out of state. However, I dont think having or not having a pet makes you more or less of a caring person.

...Please don't flame me.

I love my dogs. I love my Doberman the best. She's our 4th kid and our "in the house" dog. She is the coolest dog I have ever had. I just love her. We have an "outside dog" that I'm horribly allergic to (too much dander and fur):( .
That being said I'm not so much an animal lover that I won't eat meat, chicken, venison and such.

I love animals. I have pets. But I don't really care for when people anthropomorphize them excessively. Others think it is cute. Neither of us are wrong.

I love my dogs, they are like my other 2 children. My DH on the other hand could take them or leave them. He was never raised with animals so even though we've always had at least 1 dog our whole married life(14 1/2 years) he just doesn't and never will feel the same way I do towards them. He's not mean towards them. He just thinks a dog is a dog. We butt heads all the time about it, because I treat them like babies. more so before we had kids but he still thinks I go a little overboard. To each his own.

Got a kick out of the link to the Wisconsin site that limits pets to the amt. of square footage.............I used to live in Wis. and perhaps they should also enact a law about the number of kids in the amt of sq footage, I remember on my bus route there was a family who had 17 children...........their barn looked better than their house, and I am not talking about the 1940's either. I think kids like animals should be limited to the amt. of time and love and the ability to care for their parents have for them, be it human babies or furbabies.

I like animals ok but am not obsessive about them. I'm sort of afraid of cats. We had a cat many years ago because dd wanted one. I learned to become close to "Prissy" In general I don't care to0 much for them. We also had an "outside dog" she refused to come in the house. I liked "Casey" very much but I love my family!

The thing I don't understand is why people take there dogs out where there are large crowds of people? Some people don't like dogs, some people, like my grandson 4 is allergic to dogs. I have often wondered why? It is frigtening to have a strange dog come up to me. My granddaughter use to scream and cry when a dog appoachered her. The person would say but "little spot doesn't bite". She didn't care, she is afraid of dogs! I don't know this dog and it ticks me off when people bring there dogs out into crowds. I feel they are being selfish!

Just for the record, I don't eat meat of any kind. If something was alive at one time, I don't eat it!

I love animals. I now have 1 cat and 2 parakeets.

But I definetly have to agree with momof2inPA. There has to be a limit on the number of pets someone can have, for both the peoples health and welfare, and the animals. I truly believe people who let their pet situation get out of control are dealing with psychological issues...serious depression, OCD, etc. People need to be responsible pet owners.

I feel about animals the way many people feel about children they're fun in small doses but I wouldn't want to bring one home. It's really a number of things for me, allergies being the biggest but I also don't like the idea of dog/cat hair all over and the smell of even the cleanest animal gets to me.

I know many people say their pets are like children but I just can't imagine feeling for an animal what I feel for DD. I would lay my life on the line without giving it a second thought for her there's no way I'd do that for an animal. I guess maybe it's because I didn't grow up with a dog that I feel this way.

We have severals friends that have animals, dogs mostly, and when we visit I play with them and do have fun I just have no desire to have one 24/7. We do have fish and are contemplating some type of caged animal for DD in a few years.

I Like animals but don't want any in my home , two reason. My oldest was bitten by a dog in the face and had to have plastic surgery, my third dd has airway problems and we aren't allowed to have any animals in constance contact with her. That being said my other two sons don't like likes dogs or cats. so we will be an non animal family. Any way 4 kids are enough for me to take care of LOL.

I love all our pets. They are just as much part of the family as the people are. We are all one big family.

I have a dog, a 4 and a half month old black lab; and a cat that we found and rescued(stray).
I love them both, though the dog drives me nuts some days. ;)

I do not love them like my children, not even remotely close and don't understand when people say they love their animals like they love their kids. I can't fathom a love for my pets anywhere near to the incredible feeling of love I have for my kids, so I guess I'm not a big time animal lover. LOL
I don't like to see animals hurt or mistreated, of course, but I don't have a great interest in all animals/pets.
