Hubby cant sleep without a fan. Plan to leave it behind if anyone would like it.

My husband is the same way. I bought him a sound machine. It's small and easily fits in a suitcase. He ended up liking it so much he now uses it all the time. I don't know how many fans we bought and left over the years. This might be an option for him when he travels if he needs the noise.

I think there is a white noise app for smartphones, my sister's uses one.

There are also some white noise/box fan videos on youtube. We use these instead of lugging a fan around with us to hotels. Works great!!
