If you are headed to MK today, no ferry service

there is no ferry service from TTC (monorail only), and obviously no water activities, and all beaches are closed. Prayers to the family in this horrible situation :(

Thats gonna make for long monorail lines but not sure what else they could do other than buses.

I'm sure they will have a bunch of busses available if monorail backs up. I've seen them run busses before when the monorail was down so one would assume they will do it now.

I sure hope this isn't a long term thing. It's a horrible tragedy what happened, without question. But I sure hope they resume the ferry. There's a lot of things that could "happen" on the lagoon. Someone could fall off the ferry and drown. Boats could crash. Boats could sink. Who knows...but as long as they're taking all possible precautions, I sure hope they reopen it ASAP.

I'm sure it will be a short term thing. I don't think the ferry being closed has anything to do with worry for the safety of the other guests as much as keeping them out of the way for the search that is going on.

I agree, I think the Ferry would just be closed as a means to keep the "active search site" completely clear for a short time. It is really sad to think that it is unlikely this little child's body will ever be recovered. I am hopeful for the family that it, at least, is recovered so they can properly lay the child to rest. It is cringe-worthy no doubt, but I sincerely doubt the ferry service will be gone longer than a day or two...

I assume it's just closed while they're searching.

My guess is they closed the Ferry while they are searching the lake for the boy and the gator.

Ah yes, that makes a lot of sense. I forgot they hadn't found him yet. I can definitely see the need to stop the ferry for that.

Another issue - and I wish there were a better way to say this - is that they certainly want to minimize the chances of a guest "seeing something".
For that reason, I would suspect the beaches on Bay Lake will also be closed.

Oh geez, I didn't even think about that, that's a good point. So heart breaking.

That's what I was thinking too. Obviously people on a big ferry would not be in any danger, but there are things that you can't "unsee". Much better to let the trained workers bear that burden than an unprepared guest.

I sure hope they are able to locate the child's remains so the family has something to bury near home. :(

I believe they did just find him.

They found him? Where did you see this or are you at Disney right now? I have been watching CNN literally all day hoping to hear something but they have nothing...they did say there will be an update at 4, so maybe it will be mentioned then

I'm here now and when we were coming out of MK the helicopter landed to the left of the lake (near the buses) and there was a lot of boats going over in that area. Makes me think they have found something. So sad :(

Super sad! I read that the next police briefing was scheduled for 6PM, but has since been moved up to 4PM and someone from WFTV tweeted that they may have found the gator involved in the incident
