If you are an OKW owner.....

Is it still necessary to call day by day for a GV 11 months out for the summer time?

My husband and I are trying to decide if it is worth it to us to add on OKW for the GV or just add on more at AKV. If I still need to call day by day, I think I'll pass. Just curious. TIA!

I'm an OKW owner, but I really can"t answer your question. When we want a GV it is very important and my nerves won't allow me to take any chances. But since the points are so great and they are so wonderful, my guess would be that day to day is the way to do it.

Well, I've never tried for one during the summer, so maybe I am not the best person to ask. But I haven't had any trouble getting a GV at OKW in the first part of May. One time I didn't even call right at the 11 months. I think it closer to 8 or 9 months out and I still got the week we wanted. But this year we will be booking a GV at AKV for May 2009. And you can bet I will be calling day by day for that one. But the second week we will be moving to a GV at OKW and I will wait and book it at one time. I think it is just the law of supply and demand. AKV has a lot fewer GV than OKW.

would think it might be fine. don't think summer is a popular month for GV - costs to much and unless you are going Jul 4 week - not a holiday.

now if you were going Thanksgiving week - definitely call day by day.

are you flexible - can you change your time if necessary?

Spicey, I am flexible from the middle of June all the way up to the first week of August. I'd be thrilled if could wait to book for the whole week at 11 months rather than day by day. OKW uses so much less points for a GV and my husband and I have a bit of an attachment to OKW since we were married at Disney at stayed there for all the wedding festivites and the honeymoon. While I love AKV, I don't think I could use that many points for a GV without feeling guilty.

We're still up in the air about where we're going to add on, but right now we're leaning strongly toward OKW

Not an OKW owner here, but I called day by day at the 7 month mark and was able to secure a GV for July 13th - 18th with no problem. Of course I did call at exactly opening every morning. I say go for the OKW.

I have to agree, that if you are not staying over a summer holiday week, you should be able to book 11 months from checkout, even for the GV. We were even able to do that when we booked one for October a couple years ago.

Is OKW hard to book over Memorial Day holiday? I know its a holiday, but maybe not a popular one? Would love to try OKW then, but have a feeling a 7mos. it might not be possible.
