Did you book through WDW or through a travel agent?

We booked our upcoming vacation through our travel agent for 11/29-12/5. She says she can't apply the Monster PIN we received to our reservation although she keeps giving a different answer as to why. The first time we asked it was that it didn't apply to the "monorail resorts" which isn't true. We tried to clarify and she said it didn't apply to our dates. But it DOES, other than we may have to check out a day early (12/4 versus 12/5). Anyway, I called Disney reservations today to ask about it and they couldn't tell me anything since I "booked our stay through a travel agent". GAAH! I was so excited to receive a PIN finally, but its frustrating not being able to use it, or at least understand WHY we can't use it!!! :(

If it were me, I'd be apt to rebook through Disney directly and then cancel my reservation with the TA.

Ditto; they could not have been more helpful for me on the phone.

I am booked Nov. 27th through December 4th, and I had to get the first day as a room only; she was very patient and lead me through the entire process and it saved me $525.00.

Just so we're clear--rebook first, THEN cancel. I'd hate to see you not be able to get your dates.

Would anybody give the original TA warning, or would you just do it? For me, I guess it would depend on how frustrated I was. It sure sounds like they are trying to keep a bigger commission. Maybe they would magically be able to apply the PIN if they knew the whole ressie was in jeopardy.

I couldn't agree more:thumbsup2 That TA doesn't sound very helpful at all. But like PP said; rebook first so you don't lose your dates then cancel with the TA.
Good Luck,

Probably not. I'd call Disney, rebook (if my dates/resort were available with the PIN) and then I'd call the travel agent to cancel my ressie. Depending on my mood, her mood, etc... I would probably not give her a reason unless she pressed me and then I'd mention that because she was not able to apply my PIN, I went around her and rebooked with Disney directly.

This is the main reason I do everything myself nowadays. Sure, it's great to have someone walk you through the process and constantly checking for discounts (like my TA in the past), but it also takes away your control. Which if you are laid back, would probably be a plus, but when you are as much of a control freak as I am, you tend to get itchy when you can't handle things yourself. Just ask my husband... he knows all too well. LOL. :rotfl:

I do not understand why she could not book the code. We got a code, emailed our travel agent and we did have to change the type of room but we still got our 40% off.

When booking a Disney trip I've always gone through Dreams Unlimited the travel agency here on the Dis. They have always been wonderful answering all my questions. Dreams specializes in in Disney and the other Theme Parks.

I have never had a problem and they always seem to know what code and pin is the best for us.

We've been applying the Monster PIN code to clients' reservations with no problem at all. Yes, some date and room changes to match the availability if that's what the client wished but there's no excuse for what your TA did. Whether it lowers our commission or not, it's the right thing to do. I'm sorry you didn't have that experience and I would most definitely let your TA know you've rebooked through Disney and why.

I e mailed my TA and all she had to do was rebook me as 2 resis as first part of my trip was not covered with the code so she left it with my aaa discount and rebooked the rest of my trip with the monster code. I saved an additional 200.00. I would get a new TA she is not doing right by you.
