If/When FD drops...is modifying on the computer possible?

Hi,
Usually we wait until FD is announced to book, but this year we did it a few months ago so I could start booking our dining. We are staying at Poly standard room 8/27-Sep 3rd with DDP and 6 day hoppers.
Anyways, if FD or a room discount is announced is it possible to modify the reservation on line clicking that "change/modify reservation" button? Don't want to lose my deposit and travel insurance. Would I get a new reservation number? And when what happens to my dining? Should I write down all those confirmation numbers? Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I could have sworn someone did this last year and said it was easy and they just went back to bed, but now I am hearing nightmares, anyone BTDT?

I'm curious about this too. I'd like to book our early December trip at AKL now if possible with DDP and see if FD comes out I can pay the difference between the DP and DDP.

It is not always possible and absolutely impossible to predict in advance. It is pretty rare that Poly Standard gets included for FD in any volume, though, so the likelihood is very high you would need a new booking.

Just because someone does something doesn't mean others can. Disney MDE us nit stable or predictable.

ADRs are not linked to resort reservation, however, so if you change or cancel the resort the ADRs will not change or cancel.

Like right now I can go on and modify my current plans and receive a room discount (saves me like $350) but wonder if this will be possible on FD release day when and if it happens

This is being discussed extensively on the free dining thread. Some people have a modify button, some do not (no rhyme or reason as to why this happens). If you do have the button, yes you can modify online when FD becomes available.

I wouldn't state this as a sure thing. Buttons... disappear. This is MDE we're talking about. You know, the place where people couldn't make online package payments for 6 months? MDE is a hot mess and will be operating under load.
