If we move to Orlando area, should we sell/keep DVC?

Only desiring to live there, rather than living there makes one forget about some of these things. Clermont is an up and coming area, as are Apopka and Oviedo. Property values in those towns will likely continue to go up. Orlando real estate is on fire in general. We have friends that have made a killing on every house they've owned.

I agree about Celebration. We looked there and didn't like the sterile feeling. We also didn't like the fact that we bought twice as much house in a nicer area twenty minutes up the road.

The schools in Celebration are not right for all but the most gifted and talented kids...I have a friend who is an elementary teacher who read several articles about the problems the schools there are having in professional journals. It's an experiment that is not working out for most kids. Many 2-3 year old homes are up for sale there--that should be an eye opener in itself...

Anne, Celebration school had a LOT of problems to begin with. It was very "experimental"...a LOT has changed since the early days, though. The school now has a conventional grading system, for one. We took the school tour and it was very informative. We are still not 100% certain that we are comfortable with the school, though (for our own reasons). I would disagree that the school is only appropriate for the most gifted kids. The school has so many things that you will not find elsewhere because it receives donations from corporations. The computer lab in the grade school was just fantastic. The art room (building?) was like nothing I've seen, and the music/band room/area was suberb as well. My husband and I were impressed with how much the school has because of corporate involvement. However extraordinary the enrichment looks, we are still not sure that the academics in Celebration measure up to our standards :( Only time will tell I guess.

As for many 2-3 year old homes being for sale, a LOT of people move within Celebration :) DH and I plan to buy a "starter" home there just to see if we like it there and to determine where in the town we want to eventually live. One other reason that so many homes come up for sale is that FL in general is a more "transient" place. People move in from other areas and often move back to their original areas for whatever reason.

Busy day at work there luv34747?!! :p

I wanted to add that we REALLY liked Avalon Park. If it weren't for those smokestacks, we would probably be buying a house there now.
