If we can't add on a day, help me decide what to do instead

Hi - We are finding ourselves possibly caught up in the new ticket policy where we may not be able to add on a day to our tickets purchased from Undercover Tourist. We leave in 9 days, and it looks like we'll just have to wait and see what happens when we get there. Should we not be able to add on a day, I'm trying to figure out what our best alternate plan is.

A little about us...the day in question is Thursday, March 20th. We will be getting off of a cruise that morning and will arrive at AKL around 9:30 am or so. It is me, DH, and 3 boys ages 2, 5, and 8. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. We had planned to go to AK that day.

Possible options include:
-Downtown Disney with maybe a visit to Disney Quest. Older kids would love it, probably not great for a 2 year old, and the no stroller thing at DQ is likely a deal breaker. And pretty pricey - about $200.
-Go to either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. We've never been to either. Haven't researched either and don't know what's the best fit for our family. Pretty price - about $200. And, being pregnant I can't take the older kids on any of the slides. Not sure if it's a great option for a 2 year old.
-Hang out at the hotel. We've never stayed at AKL but it looks quite nice and the pool area and animal areas seem like they could entertain the crew for the day. Would be hard if we don't have access to the room until later though. Price is right - no added cost!

Any input is appreciated. We will not have a car and don't really want to rent one and the 3 necessary car seats, otherwise we'd be headed to Universal. :)

No question, I'd have one bag with bathing suits and sunblock, check the rest of the bags in till the room is ready and hang out at the AKL. The pool area is great (the Kidani pool area also has a fun splash/play area) and spend some time seeing the animals. Check out what activities they have at the resort that day for the kids.

I agree that there should be no problem adding a day once you get there. But if you can't.....Sea World? Or you could rent those little motor boats at The Poly or Floridian. We always have a great time on those! :goodvibes

I agree!!! Just use it as a chill day to gear up for your time in the parks.

I think the kids would love typhoon or blizzard, my dgd loves both, probably typhoon more, and your two year old would have plenty to do there. But another thought I had was taking a trip over to fort wilderness, have a pony ride, pet the animals, I think they have a sing a long or something at night, and a movie but akl would have that also. A hey ride or carriage ride. All together that would cost less than do or typhoon, and you can still spend time at the pool and maybe a walk thru dtd.

I would be very surprised if you couldn't add a day....why would Disney NOT want to take more money than have you spend that money elsewhere in Central Florida? I find it VERY hard to believe ticket upgrading will not be possible, now bridging is another story....

The pool at AKL I pretty awesome and sometimes it is good to have a downtime day and just hang out at the resort. Also there are the two mini- golf courses on property that are neat. My favorite is the winter- summer land courses.

Stay at AKL! AKL is the perfect, no-park touring resort! There is so much to do. Explore the resort, see the animals, swim! Head over to Sanaa and eat lunch while watching the animals! AKL is really relaxing and a lot of fun. enjoy!

We checked into akl after our cruise and just stayed at the resort that day enjoying the pool. We did DTD that night. MK the next day.

Forget about it, stay at AKL and have a blast. It's an awesome resort :thumbsup2 The pool area is top notch! Just bring a carry bag with a change of clothes and your swimming gear, they have really nice shower/changing areas right by the pool. It's a huge resort, you're not going to wait too long for a room. Plus you could have a nice dinner at Boma which is delicious! :)

p.s oh and by the way there's jungle animals too.

Thanks for the input everyone. We'll just plan on a nice resort day if we end up having problems with the tickets. I appreciate your help!
