Help! Thinking of trying for Vero at 7 months. But will we miss not being at Disney? When we visited WDW this past April, I felt like we were ready for something different next year. So we have been strongly considering Vero. But as time has gone by, the thought of not going back to Disney for 2 years seems like crazy talk!

Yes, I have considered a split stay. I just hate the thought of packing/unpacking twice in one week.

Would love your feedback if you've gone to Vero and forgone Disney... did you love it or regret it?! Thanks :goodvibes

Really, only you can answer this. I think whatever your expectations of your vacation are will go along way in deciding this. VB is great! especially if you want a laid back relaxing beach vacation...and while there's alot to do in the area...it (nor anything really) will be 'like' WDW.

We love Vero Beach! It is definitely NOT a Disney World vacation. It is a fantastic beach resort. It is a different kind of vacation. We find it to be a relaxing, lovely resort. However, if you are going to miss the WDW vacation experience then you may want to reconsider -- you don't want to keep comparing what you would be doing at WDW to what you are doing at Vero.

We have similar feelings each and every year. Especially as DD,DS and DD get older they like VB more and more and at times have uttered those blasphmous words.... "We like VB better than WDW"!

But what we do is go Sun - Thur at VB... Leave early AM on Friday and head to WDW. Stay Fri and Sat and leave Sun. This gives us our FI:thumbsup2X!

We did split stays for years - gradually increasing the ratio of Vero::WDW time. The kids always said they liked Vero better.
This year, for the first time, we planned to skip WDW all together and just do Vero. We did end up going to WDW for one day. It was actually a lot of fun - after being so relaxed at the beach, we did commando WDW - THREE parks in 24 hours and MK until 2am. It was an adventure. :goodvibes

Honestly, I think a split stay is the way to go. It's a really easy move to go from WDW to VB since there's no place you "have" to be. We usually just wore swimsuits under our clothes when we left Disney, checked in at VBR and hit the pool/beach. Unpacked that night. It's so relaxed, it's not the extreme hassle that switching resorts at WDW is - where you feel like you lose a day.

I love VB, but I couldn't go there without going to Disney, they are too close to each other, especially since we fly in and out of MCO.

Usually we do VB first and then WDW.

When go to VB, we do not go to WDW, it's a full week at the beach.

Kids(15/10) enjoy going for spring break, no let's get out the door for school/rope drop.

You are so close - if you are not sure, I would just do a split stay.

Have a great time planning!

When I book Vero I think of it a a week at the beach, just as I would if we were going to Siesta Key, or Ft. Myers etc. I don't connect it mentally with the parks; just like when we go to Hilton Head. It's really a beautiful beach resort and the fact that its on points and we don't have to come up with several thousand dollars to stay right on the beach makes it even better!

We stayed at VB for the first time last fall and it was wonderfully relaxing! We actually did a split stay with a couple of days at Disney World first and then on to VB. It was a perfect way to wind down from the parks! This will likely by the norm for our Disney trips going forward!

You should definitely give it a try, you won't know whether you like it or not until you go! Maybe try a split stay if you really need to scratch that park itch! lol

We decided to try Vero for the first time last year. We did not go to WDW at all. In the planning I tried to talk DH into a long Epcot day for F & W while we were at Vero, but he wasn't having it.
We had a wonderful time and we did not miss WDW at all. As others have said, it is a different vacation. You need to have your expectatios for your vacation set for a relaxed pace. We relaxed, slept, read, ate, swam and just had a great time.
So much so that this year we are doing a split stay (It should be our WDW year). We will do 5 days at WDW followed by 7 days at Vero. I wonder if 5 days will be enough, but DH loved Vero so that this may be our model going forward.
Good Luck in your decision

Do a split stay...and pack two suitcases...one for WDW and one for VB. That way, you only unpack each suitcase once! :rotfl:

We have started doing split stays every time, because if we do either one without the other, we feel like we have missed something. We, too, like to relax at Vero for a few days before hitting the parks..if we did it the other way around, we would not want to leave WDW for Vero because we never run out of things to do there...but we still want to have both experiences. It's nice if you can do 10 days or so, 3 at the beach and a week at WDW, but we're doing a 3/4 split this time. Can't wait! :goodvibes

Thanks for your response everyone! Guess I need to seriously consider a split stay... :rolleyes1

Sorry to be the only person who really wished they were back a WDW on a trip to VB. We did a split stay last year and really didn't enjoy it. The resort itself was lovely but it felt like the surrounding area was all just other gated communities that we were not welcome to visit. As a result we ate in the resort for all meals and got rather bored of what they have to offer. We wished that we had just stayed at WDW and had a few day relaxing by the resort pool.
