Hi! I'm Gretchen and I'll be your hostess for this dining report. We are here now until the 11th, staying at Beach Club Villas. We're doing Food & Wine Festival, with three table service restaurants and a bunch of counter service restaurants as well. Let's get started!

We arrived at the hotel around 10am yesterday. Beaches & Cream was on our schedule for lunch and I know they fill up fast after opening at 11, so we headed over around 10:30. There are tables near the pool so we sat at one of those until it was time. When opening rolled around, we were the first customers of the day, so lots of clapping and cheering. Our waitress was Dolores and she was fantastic.

From the get go, a burger and the No Way Jose were at the top of our list. So we shared a single burger and fries plus the sundae. Mom also got a Coke.

The burger was so much bigger than expected, perfectly cooked, juicy, just all around delicious. The fries were seasoned and had just the right amount of crunch. Then came the sundae. SO BIG! We couldn't even finish it, but we did try and made a good dent. It was the just as chocolate/peanut butter heavenly as people describe it.

I would recommend this restaurant. Food was great, service was great, price was not terrible for Disney.

Up next: Cape May Cafe Dinner 10/7

Our dinner ADR at Cape May was for 5:30. We checked in around 5:20 and were paged at approximately 5:32. The hostess told us our server would be Karen, but after several minutes with no Karen, another server names Sarah came over. Sarah was the one who took care of us for most of our dinner, with Karen stopping by occasionally. Manager Kiersten also stopped by to chat; she was very personable and talked with us for about 10 minutes.

I'm not an adventurous eater and I'm not crazy about most seafood, but Mom really likes crab and doesn't eat it very often, so she was very excited. Our first trip to the buffet consisted of mostly salads.

Salad with cheese, croutons, and ranch; cantaloupe with some sort of dressing and green stuff; peel and eat shrimp.

Cantaloupe, Cape May Potato Salad, Peel and Eat shrimp with cocktail sauce. We both liked the shrimp and cantaloupe. My salad was good; it's a salad and you can't really go wrong with that. Mom did not care for the potato salad, it was unlike any other she had eaten before, not what she was expecting, but she couldn't really define a taste.

My second plate was really pretty boring.

Chicken nugget (there were two but I had eaten one), mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cornbread with butter, corn on the cob, and fried cod. I really liked the potatoes, the mac and cheese, the corn, and the cod. The potatoes were very flavorful, the cheese on the pasta was delicious, and the corn was sweet. The chicken nuggets were just alright, they were flattened and didn't really have a lot of taste. The cornbread was not very sweet and a bit dry.

Mom's second plate:

Fried cod, corn on the cob, drawn butter, cornbread, crab legs. She LOVED the crab legs. She also loved the corn, thought the cob was pretty good, and enjoyed the corn bread.

We shared four mini desserts: Key Lime Tart, (Raspberry) Cheesecake, Brownie, and the famed Oreo Bon Bon.

Our favorite was the key lime tart. It was not too tart and the whipped cream added an appropriate amount of sweetness. The cheesecake was kind of blah. It didn't really have a raspberry flavor. The brownie was chewy, most, and chocolaty. The Oreo Bon Bon was sooooo rich and sweet. I could only eat two bites of it! Mom liked the top part with the mousse, but not the bottom cookie part (she doesn't like Oreos though).

This would be on my "Maybe Recommend" list. The staff was hit or miss and while the food was pretty good, $40/person is a lot when you don't actually eat any seafood.

Next: Boardwalk Bakery, Beach Club Marketplace, and Sunshine Seasons breakfasts; Food & Wine Festival: Australia and Caribbean.

This morning I woke up super early at 5:45, for no good reason. So I got up and headed across Crescent Lake to Boardwalk Bakery and was there when it opened at 6:30. There were about 5 other people there as well.

At opening a cast member came out and told us that someone else was getting a till, so it would be a moment before they could ring us out for anything, but they would be happy to get us coffee. I picked out an apple juice and a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. I also wanted a fruit cup but didn't see any despite the fact that it's on the menu. So I took my juice and bagel and came back to the Beach Club where I waited 15 minutes for the Marketplace to open at 7.

With fruit in hand, I went back up to the room. After Mom got up, I set breakfast up on the table.

The bagel was really good but the fruit was just okay. The cantaloupe was fine but the honey dew seemed a little bland.

Epcot was our park of choice for today and we went in at 8:28. Around 9:50, Mom was hungry again so we went to Sunshine Seasons for a snack. She chose the CroisSant Berry Bread Pudding and we both had a small chocolate milk.

Promptly at 11, we headed to World Showcase. It was around this time that the horrible cold, sideways rain with giant gusts of wind started up. We began at Australia. Our item of choice was the Shrimp on the Barbie with a Pepper Berry Citrus Glaze.

It was really good and had a nice flavor. The shrimp were a decent size.

I think we're heading back over now, so I'll try to post back later!

Awesome report so far! I'll be waiting for more. Have a good trip. :goodvibes

Joining in! Great reviews so far! :thumbsup2

That sundae sure is BIG as I realised during our trip! :rotfl:

CMC looks good - I want to eat here on a future trip.

Hope you are having a great time and can't wait to read more of your reviews! :goodvibes

Wow, so many people reading already! Thanks!

When I left off, we had just eaten Shrimp on the Barbie in the torrential downpour, huge gust of wind weather. Our next stop was the Caribbean booth. Here we chose to order the Ropa Vieja (Braised Beef) with White Rice and the Dragon Berry Colada (my first *ever* alcoholic drink).

I was originally a little wary of the beef dish because it literally means "Old Clothes" in Spanish. However, it was really good! There was a little spice to it but we couldn't identify the specific flavor. As for the Colada, I liked it. It kind of tasted like a fruity yogurt in slushy form. Mom said she could taste the rum, but since I didn't know what I was supposed to be tasting, I didn't. It was still *monsooning* away, so we took shelter at Cantina de San Angel. This was a bit before noon and we were soaked despite our ponchos so we headed back to the room for a break.

Mom needs the computer now, but I'll catch everything up during our break tomorrow.

Coming Up: Sunshine Seasons and Food & Wine Festival.
