If transportation wasn't an issue would you pick AKL or WL

We've stayed at both, AKL once and Wilderness Lodge 8-10 times. For us, its location, we like popping over to the MK, spend most of our time there whether for half a day, full day or just an hour, the boat ride makes it easy. We also like the boat to CR to gain acess to the monorail and all their shopping, lounges and resturants. We take the boat to FW a few times for Trails End, Crocketts Tavern and the horse barn where the horses that pull the trolley in the MK are kept, at night FW is a quiet place with good pizza, our opinion, and a few pitchers of beer and then a boat ride back to WL, also we still enjoy the EWP. I guess its to each their own but we like walking around the WL and villas in the evening, down to the boat dock and beach to see the nightly EWP and what we saw from our Savannah room at AKL, just a few animals during feeding time, not worth the money and at night, no real walkways and not much else to do other than get a bus and go elsewhere. For the money, location, and more means of getting around and things to see and do, we pick the Wilderness Lodge.

Same experience. However DH & I love to rent bikes and pedal over to see the horses. The pizza and beer sounds like a great option!

On my last trip I was very excited to see AKL since I LOVE WL and they were built by the same architect. We spent a half day there touring and ate at Boma and while I could appreciate the hotel I didn't get that warm and cozy feeling that I love about WL.

I've stayed at AKL once and WL twice. The reason I went back to WL over AKL is because I like the transportation options to Magic Kingdom (where we spend most of our time). But since I'm not supposed to think about transportation ... I'd say AKL. Because I like the pool much better. The zero entry is great for little kids. We like swimming and I just find the AKL pool to be a better place to lounge in the pool.

I would pick the Wilderness Lodge because I like their location a lot better then the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Personal taste is what I think. I can visit a lodge anywhere in the US but it is a very rare thing to open your balcony door and have a giraffe out front.

Being from the NE, I feel the same way. I'd pick AKL.

With a savanna view, I'd choose AKL every time. It's so neat being able to sit on your balcony and watch the animals. I love it! I also love the theming and ambience of the whole resort. I even love the counter service "food court!"

If you're getting a standard room, I'd go with WL. The atmosphere is similar to that of AKL, overall. Without the animal view, I don't think AKL has any advantages.
