If today's media were reporting on D-Day

Where did those chemical weapons come from that Saddam could have used against you guys?

France? Germany? Russia? China? Let me know when I get one wrong.

Now I'm off to sign up for a pre-sale copy of Clinton's new book!

Maybe I'll see you in line. I'll be buying "The Rule of Four". Which do you think will be more fictional? After reading, let's compare!

Hey dmadman43! Remember the pre Gulf War years? Remember the Iraq/Iran war? Remember the meetings between Rumsfeld and Saddam? What do you suppose Rumsfeld was doing there?

Regarding the original topic of media bias...

I found a recent segment on Fox News highly illustrative. They showed clips from the three major networks and CNN reporting on a law suit filed against the Clinton Administration. In each case the anchor referred to the man filing the suit as a right-wing activist. Next, clips were shown of the same four anchors reporting on a law suit filed against VP Cheney. In each case the anchor referred to the man filing the suit as the head of a politcal watch-dog group. Funny thing is, it was the same man and he was still the head of the same group. Now why would they characterize him as a nutty right-winger in one instance and a watch-dog in the other?

In today's paper, "Bush Scoled on War" headline. Page 7. Pope's statement was " Bush's meeting takes place at a moment of great concern for the continuing situation of grave unrest in the Middle East, both in Iraq and in the Holy Land". " In the past few weeks other deplorable have come to light which have troubled the civic and religious conscience of al...." Now on the continuation of the story on a back page. The pope went on to praise Bush for his commitment to the promotion of moral values in American Society, particularly with regard to respect for life and the family and for his administrations support for humanitarian relief in Africa. On the same page was an article about 248,000 new jobs being created in May, bringing the total of jobs created since March of just under 1,000,000. Which story will get more airtime.

Just to give you food for thought....

I belive MSNBC is going to try to "recreate" D Day coverage using today's technology this weekend.

Yes tonight 8:00pm EDT - This should be interesting.

Olena - thank you for the link.

The problem is that, because negative reporting is what makes the most noteworthy news, the good stuff gets left behind. It is important that women in a MUSLIM nation are holding positions of power. It is important that the world see that the average Iraqi respects America and the soldiers from all of the countries helping out. The average Iraqi is thankful for their liberation. They want us to leave, but they're glad for the help and not ungrateful. These stories are underreported and/or ignored by the mass media. Hence, it apears that the media is biased against the war and consequently against Bush.

The Abu Ghraib prison scandal SHOULD have been reported. But they could have focused more on the fact that the US has known about it for some time and had been conducting investigations to try and rectify the problem and bring the criminals to justice. The media downplayed or ignored this and instead focused on what bad people the US soldiers turned into over there. Balanced? Not IMO.

This is exactly what I was trying to get at. You put it much more eloquently than I ever could though :)

Well, if, as you suggest, we sold them to him, then how could we possibly have been LYING about him having them?
