If there was a new ending date, would you extend?

If DVC offered a new end date for sale now, would you buy?

  • Yes, I can't wait to extend

  • No, I'm not interested

  • Not right now, maybe in the future

Well, Mom and I will be 97 & 96,
the kids will be 77 & 75
the grand Kids will be 55, 54, 52, 49,43 and 38 ( 1 on the way )
the great grand kids will need to take care of Mom and I but if they want to extend and take us with them I'll vote for the extension. That's only if they take us along.

They better not even think about leaving me home.

I guess at this time I have to say no. Only because at 46 we would be in our 80's, and I doubt very much even if we are still on earth we would be traveling that much. Our kids however may want to consider it, and I would want to offer that to them. I presently have an 18 year old, and she would be ready to begin to make those decisions, but at this point she would have to buy her own anyhow. This question has gotten me to thinking. Disney really knows how to design everything including how long to make the contracts.

Gee,
That is a hard one. I'd be 68. Whoa, that's scary!!!!! I voted no, not right now. I'm with Dean, I'd have to see what the circumstance warented.

I'll only be 70 then, dh 72, kids 42 and 47....so its conceivable that we'll want DVC beyond 2042. But I can't see spending money now for something I'm not entirely sure I'll want in 39 years ( I think I will, but 39 years is a long time....)

I guess it would depend on how its done, etc.....we could use more points now, so I could see us buying another contract that has a later ending date (and a later ending date would be a bit of an incentive to buy, say SS, as opposed to an OKW or VWL resale) . But paying to extend the date on our current contract isn't likely to be a priority to us for a long time.

I understand everyone's issues about being too old to worry or use it but there's an intrinsic value issue here too. At some point the value will go down and if DVC continues to have new resorts being sold for 20 years AND we are able to extend and use our points at those resorts, it will have a tremendous impact on the value of what we own or pass to our heirs down the line.

I think for us it would depend on how our 2 kids (grown) feel about it. If they were interested in using DVC in their mature years, then we would extend. I think it would be a wonderful gift to leave for them to enjoy with their families.

I voted "not now, but maybe later". We are 55 and 57. Our adult kids MIGHT be interested, so we might opt to extend at some time in the future for their benefit.

I voted no for now too. There are just too many variables that could happen.

I'll be 98 then.

As for everyone's thoughts about being old, just remember one thing........

It's better to be 'over the hill' than to be 'under' it. :p
