If the parks are closed, due to capacity....

Will guest services at our resort know? How about the bus and/or boat drivers? If we're not going to be able to get into the park, I'd rather hang around Fort Wilderness. I'd hate to take the bus all the way to Epcot, then not be able to get in. :( What has been your experience? TIA :)

My understanding WDW resort guests are the last ones to be turned away.
I am not sure how much in the know the resorts are.
We were in MK right before one of the hurricanes, and when the park was closing early. Up to date messages were being relayed as we were there. I would guess for capacity and hurricanes management communicate via pagers, walkie talkies, cells, whatever.
My thoughts are you would never really know without being at the park and finding out first hand.

I wouldn't think this would be an issue with Epcot, but I don't know with the new attractions. Epcot is usually the most empty of the parks though.

... you really don't want to be inside.

Wall to wall people. Unable to even walk down the streets.

Me too, I'm looking for anecdotal evidence about what happens. I hope the bus driver at the resort would advise folks that the park was closed and let them get back off the bus before departing for the park. Alternatively I would hope that when the "closed to resort guests" call goes out, guests on buses en-route would be allowed in.

This happened to us this past July on our way to BB.The bus driver announced it as we arrived that the park was closed to capacity. We got off anyway and had no problem entering, but we had our room key with us and showed them.If we were driving a car I'm not sure if they would have let us in or not.

It is my understanding that one of the "perks" of staying at a WDW resort is guaranteed admission to the parks.... you might not want to go but I think the choice is yours.

You are guaranteed admission to "a park" not necessarily the park of your choice. So if MK is closed completely due to capacity, they will direct you to another park.

Staying on site you will be allowed into a park--- but not always where you may of been headed. There is different levels of closing. The first level is to all guests staying off site. This is almost always guaranteed to happen a few times during Christmas/New Years Week. Then the park closes to all guests (no matter where they are staying). That doesn't happen as often as the first phase, even during the holiday's.
As for Epcot, I'm wondering if anyone has expierenced them "closing". I've read of MK, AK, and MGM but never Epcot.

They relay the messages as quickly as possible to all parks, transporation and resorts, however it may take time. Last year Epcot never did close to capacity, although at some point in the day all of the rest did. If you are staying on site, you will be one of the last they will refuse admission to. Do know that even if you are staying on site, it doesn't guarantee your admission to the park of your choice, but the park that still has room. Usually that is Epcot.

Good luck to you and I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

We were at Epcot a few years ago on New Years Eve and I heard they were closed due to capacity, but we were already in the park, and I had no personal confirmation. It was absolutely packed, with all fastpasses gone by 10 am. We just walked around and took in the sites. It was still fun.

Last year on Christmas Day, the Mk reached capacity before we got there. We had PS for Crystal Palace. 2 hours before our PS, they started allowing guests to enter again, so we got in and had our dinner! We drove that day, and they were having MK traffic park at Epcot, because parking lot at MK was full. This year, we are not going into the parks, we are eating dinner at a resort.
