If the Park is filled to capacity; can you be denied access?

We will be staying at the Pop and I heard that if you are staying on Disney property you will still be allowed into the parks, even if the park is filled... Is this true? We are going in July and I expect the parks to be packed and I wanted to make sure that we can still get in?????????? :confused3

I believe that you are guaranteed entry to "a" park if staying on property, but not necessarily the park you want to go to. It is pretty rare for the parks to limit admission, but resort guests are let in after they stop letting offsite guests in, up to the point that they cannot let any more people in.

There is a protocol for denying access, in stages. Disney resort guests do have priority over off-site guests, but as buckylarue said, even Disney resort guests aren't guaranteed admission to the park of their choice. This is especially important to folks who don't have park-hoppers. If you don't have a park-hopper, and the park you were in earlier in the day is at capacity, you not only won't be allowed back in, but you won't be allowed to go into another park.

This situation most often happens at MK, right? I've never heard of AK or EPCOT closing the gates! How about at MGM?

Two summers ago we were not permitted in at Typhoon Lagoon. We were staying at WL.

Honestly, me too. There's so much to do, why torture yourselves? :confused3

We were denied access to MK one day....on T'giving day--the day of their parade and it is always PACKED. We got in anyway because my sister (who was with us) was going to be in the parade. :cheer2:

MK last year and year before that on New Years Eve closed like at 11am because the park was full. I have never seen the park that packed before!! Even though there were tons of people the wait time was the same as always because the rides were going extra fast even its a small world was running faster than usual.

I've been at MK on a 'general closure' day. It was around Christmastime. Basically.. it went like this..

Around 10am, only resort guests could get in. At 11 am .. nobody could get in..

Around 4pm they started letting people in again.

Thank you all for such quick answers :sunny: ..... I just wanted to be prepared! My hubby and I are only going for a couple of days... So I am sure my DH will have me there waiting at the gates at 6.... :rotfl2: Kidding!!!! But I still wanted to be prepared.... Anybody ever hear of MK closing in July? :confused3 Just curious.... I have a million Dis books and they say that WDW in summer is crazy packed....

Thank you again all!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I beg to differ! :teeth: Go there on New Years and every park was full to capacity BUT AK. It was SO crowded in Epcot, but lines weren't too bad...Mostly because I think people were there to :drinking1. Even in college I haven't seen so many intoxicated people in one concentrated area! :lmao:

It is unlikely any park will be closed in July, not speaking of July 4th, of course. Besides, parks open and close during the day (ie, Epcot), so if it doesn't work the first time, try again.

If you are at the park of your choice before it opens you are not going to have any problem getting in, no matter which park you choose to spend the day in. If, however, you attempt to switch parks, or go to a park later in the day, you might find it closed. Rare, but it happens I am told.

Advice: Get there early!

Enjoy.

indeed it is crazy when it does happen, when I was there one 4th of july it was just after 10 when they stopped letting people in (and that is 10 AM) wall to wall people with a billion percent humidity....not exactly a fun time

So EPCOT was full to capacity/closed to incoming guests? Wow, how many people can it hold?

I agree with Jennygt. If a park is that full, who wants to go in anyway. Find a less crowded park or go back to the resort and hang out at the pool.

We were at MK 2 years ago on the 4TH of July. The park closed at 11:00 AM to all non-Disney resort guests. It did reopen a little later in the afternoon, I can't remember what time, only to close again around 4:30. It stayed that way till park closing.

LUVMICKEY: We were in Epcot that same year on July 4th. Why? Because the year before we had been in MK when it once again closed and we could not leave and come back in so we stayed the ENTIRE day through til the fireworks! That's murder in July. Next year we went to Epcot instead.

That's such a good question...I want to know too! Any CM's have an answer or approximation? :thumbsup2
