If its a male kick them where it hurts.

and i agree with julie if someone takes 20 bucks from me im going after them :rolleyes1

In the UK it is illegal to carry around tazers or pepper spray, as they are 'pre-meditated weapons' or something.

A good idea is to carry around a small bottle of deoderant spray (if thats allowed). I got a free sample from a company, so i keep it in my bag to A) smell fresh and B) use it the same way i would use pepper spray. They get the same reaction! (Also its not considered a pre-meditated weapon, as anyone could be carring it in their bag).

I also have a personal attack alarm, which makes a REALLY loud noise if set off. I know, i accidentlly pulled it in the library! :headache:

If you can't dring the scary wepons, these are good as well!

Maybe its because I'm 6'5 250 but I have never felt unsafe in any part of Disney World nor Universal and that is including PI and Citywalk. Now Downtown Orlando on the other hand is another story. I asked my wife who had traveled to Disney before meeting me and said that she has never felt unsafe either.

But I guess there are some crazy people out there so I would agree with everyone who posted a swift kick to the family jewels will stop just about and guy in his tracks.

I taught a womens self defense class for 6 years and we teach if you can get one there, great, but think of it....from day one, little men are taught to protect the jewels, so they are usually expecting it. It isn't always the easiest strike to get in.

A tae-bo kick to the shins is extremely painful, or the knee if you can be that exact.

I thought this thread would have a link to the new Billy club with a mickey head on the end of it or some Disney inspired self defense! lol

but it is good to realize that like hiding under the covers going for the groin doesn't always wrok!!!

on a serious note I did have a friend who woke up with a man standing at the end of her bed  and she just pulled the covers over her head!??

thankfuly he took the cash on her dresser and left :scared: but the covers DON'T make you invisible!!!

First, I don't know if I'd react fast enough to do anything useful.

I guess if we were in one of the parks in broad daylight, I might be brave enough to act. But confronted at an atm at night - wouldn't it just be smarter to give them what they want? (Sorry, this isn't meant to stir the pot - just thinking aloud.)

Regardless, it's definitely worth thinking about.

If you are in a public place make as much noise as you can. There is no shame in running away from a fight or attack.

Money/jewelry is not worth it. Criminals are getting increasing brutal these days.

My 2 cents. YMMV.

You aren't stiring the pot, you are so right!

How much money is your safety and well being worth?

For me, definatly more than the £200 ($400) i could take out of an ATM at one time.

well i wouldnt have to run im normal in a big group and when im with my friends tehy are some prety big dudes 230-250 pounds 6 feet tall lol.

If I was at an ATM I think I'd go to hand them the money but drop it at the last second as a way to distract them so I could try to run away. I wouldn't want to get in a situation where the person abducted me and forced me to drive to every ATM in town to keep withdrawing more money out of the account.

Absolutely. You don't know what they may be armed with and what they are prepared to do next. You can replace your wallet -- but not your life.
