If some of your carry-on items are rejected, what are you supposed to do with them?

If some of your carry-on items are rejected, what are you supposed to do with them? Can you go back and put them in your checked baggage, or is it too late? Would it work to bring an extra (empty) napsack or duffle bag to put the rejected items in, and then ask them to check it?

On a trip a couple of years ago, a friend accidentally put a small toy gun she bought for her son at the Pirates of the Caribbean store into her carryon with some other souveniers. It was spotted on the x-ray and the security people swooped in on her bag. She had the choice of taking it back to check-in and have it boxed or turning it over. We had time, so she went back to the curbside check-in (inside line was long) and they packed it in a little box and sent it through to checked baggage. It came out on the carousel at our home airport with no problem.

Its good to know that if the gameboy is not allowed on the plane in 11 days that I can take it over to checkin and have it checked. It would be our only checkin bag but as long as I dont need to throw it away.

For our trip this November, we're going to limit the items in our carry-on luggage to the absolute minimum. I can sure see why you want your child to have access to the gameboy during the flight and I can also understand why you wouldn't just want to abandon it if it doesn't pass security.

FWIW, I have read that most airlines seem to be allowing gameboys. If you haven't already called (or plan to call) your airline, I'd suggest you do that just prior to your date of travel. I'd be worried about having enough time to go back to the ticket counter (there's always a line) and then back through security (another line).

Good luck!

Better safe than sorry. I have heard of things being taken and thrown out. Just put them in your checked bags and forget about it.:)

you can take carryons including elctronic portable devices...like gameboys and laptops....

I'm glad we can still take a Gameboy on board. It would be a long trip without them.

That's right. All the electronic items that were allowed on before, are still allowed on. I have seen many gameboys, computers, etc.

Items that are being confiscated as carry on items-
your choices are:

Check them in as checked luggage- however this could greatly increase your check in time.
Discard them
Look for them in airport lost and found when you return.

So , I would just check anything that is questionable. But electronics are still A OK
