If park closes due to crowds, can DVC still get in?

I just recently started reading about the parks closing due to crowds. I am afraid that this might happen to us, because we are only going to arrive at the park around 10:30 ish. We are going on the 4 day cruise this Sunday and on Thursday (4/18) we plan to drive straight from the Port to MK. I was only planning on purchasing one day tickets, so I was not planning on checking in at OKW until MK closed. If we are turned away, can I use my DVC id to get in? If not, can I go to OKW and check-in and get in on my room card? What if my room card does not have passes on it, can I still get in and buy a one day ticket or would I have to buy a length of stay pass?

Your DVC card won't offer any help if a park is closed to more guests.

Disney is usually very protective of it's onsite guests and will allow park access to those staying onsite. If you will be staying at OKW that day, I'd suggest checking in -even if your room is not yet ready- so you'll have a room ID to display.

I also doubt you'll find the park closed at the time you're going. That may have been the case over the very busy Easter weeks, 4th of July, Christmas and New Years times, but most other dates won't be an issue- Especially on a weekday!

Good luck!

I was reading in Birnums (sp) guide to disneyland that they guarantee guests staying at one of the three dis hotel park access. I'm sure it's much easier to make this guarantee when your only talking about 2000 or so rooms as compared to mega number at WDW.

They don't make that same promise at WDW, but it depends on the level of closure.

The first level is to close the park to off-property guests coming in, on-property guests are still allowed.

The highest level of closure is no more entry, period.

I seem to recall reading about this on the boards sometime back - basically it's WDW's version of DEFCON and they number it the same way, though not all the numbers are used.

WDW Resort guests, and that would of course include the on site DVC Resorts, are guaranteed WDW park entry but it will not be the park of their choosing. For example, the last few times they have closed off entry, Animal Kingdom became the park that WDW Resort guests were advised to proceed to for their guaranteed entry. As Doc mentioned, this only occurs on very high peak season days such as Easter, and the surrounding vacation days, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. :) :)
