If not Disney then.....

Vicki--I see you live in Highland Ranch..my brother lives in Littleton and we are going over there in about 5 weeks to see my new little nephew. Trying to find somewhere good to stay..any ideas?? LOL

Anyway...

We've sailed on Carnival about 8 times *I think but the memory is getting a little rusty* and only 1 time did we wish things were different on the sailing and most of that was the fact that we were in Alaska and most people on there were O L D E R and there was no one close to our age to "hang with" on it. We did the Belize, Costa Rica cruise with them as well on the Spirit and had an absolute BLAST! That one was without the kids though because we went for our anniversary but it was a riot! I LOVE the Panama Canal and told dh for our 20th wedding anniversary he was going to take me on a cruise through it. It will take us that long to save for it! LOL

Hi Cooltrainer,

Not sure how I'm going to like Free-Style cruising. I happen to love DCL's dining rotation system. I wish more cruise lines did that.

What is free-style cruising?

Well I guess I am trailer trash too.I Love Carnival cruise lines. We were going to go on Disney this January but I got an unbelievable price on Carnival and could not pass up the price. It was Carnivalds mistake(quoted me the wrong price)But they let me have the cruise for the price they quoted,Now that is Customer service.

We have sailed with Carnival twice before on the Fantasy(an older ship)and have been more than pleased with them.

We will try Disney sometime but I think with us being a couple with no kids,Carnival is the best choice for us.

I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my post. I never called anyone "trailer trash", nor do I think anyone is wrong for enjoying Carnival. I don't know what I said that would have made anyone think I thought less of people who enjoyed Carnival. I just relayed my experience. They really did suggest that we order room service. There was a note in our cabin to contact dining services. When we went to find out what to do, they checked every table at both seatings and didn't find our names. They could have double booked another couple. Maybe they would have had room at the earlier seating. They just assigned us to late seating since they forgot to assign us. They never asked if we wanted the earlier seating. This trip was about 10 years ago and I'm sure the line is much better now. Haven't any of you had bad experiences before and decided not to try that hotel, restaurant, store or even cruise line agian? Just because I choose not to sail on Carnival, doesn't mean other people won't like it. Their new ships are beautiful and their kids programs look wonderful.

I haven't tried DCL yet, so I can't compare it to any other line. I did enjoy my other cruises. I wouldn't have responded to this thread if I hadn't read an earlier post relating someone else's problems on another line. I really am sorry if you were offended.:( :( :(

jrose529~No need for apologies to me....I was NOT offended. I worked as a travel agent for 5 years 10 years ago and Carnival was thought of at that time as 'lower class' but not anymore.

Do not worry about posting your opinion. And don't take it personally when others disaggree. I remember when poor Heidi aka hydster posted her opinion about the DCL and was met by some 'strong opposing' opinions. Sometimes it seems you might have to have some thick skin when you post....

It's all ok....no worries....:wave2:

Heidi~Sure I can help you out with places to stay....would you like to PM me? If your brother lives anywhere near me...HR is sometimes considered Littleton, I can make a few suggestions!

jrose529--No need for an apology! I don't think anyone was offended at least I know I wasn't! I never thought you called me trailer trash (it's something that has been implied a few times on this board on OTHER threads not by you). I'm sorry to hear you had a less than great experience on Carnival as we've had nothing but excellent trips with them but hey like I've said here a million times...it's your perception of things that matter..not anyone else's! Believe me if there is anyone who knows what it's like to be called to the table on your opinion it's me! I truly think that what is an awesome trip to one is NOT an awesome trip to another which is why it's so nice there are other lines out there for people.

Anyway don't take it personally and no need to apologize...it was just something that I'd never heard of happening on any cruiseline ever and we've done several of them. Even the crummy Norwegian cruise we were on didn't do that to us...but hey if it happened I am truly sorry! That would sour me on a cruise line as well..just like my horror story with NCL soured us on ever cruising them again!!

Peace!
Heidi

I haven't yet cruised on any other line, but this July we are trying out Princess cruiseline's new Caribbean Princess....I'll let you all know how that experience is.

Free Style Cruising is what they offer on Norwegian. You are not assigned a particular restaurant or eating time - other than the "specialty" restaurants, you just show up when you feel like it and sit with whomever you like. I believe Princess offers something similar called "Personal Choice" dining.

You have GOT to be kidding me!!!!!! That is awful that people would imply that about you or anyone for that matter!!!! sometimes, I think people take things to extremes!

We did the Big Red Boat in 96, then 3 Disney cruises, all on the Magic, We are leaving on 7-4 to cruise on the Mariner Of the Seas. I know it will be packed versus our early Dec Disney cruises, but with that in mnd I will try & compare. Another good site to visit is cruise addicts.

On the subject of Norweigian...

Anyone had a GOOD experience with them? The new Hawai'i roundtrip cruises are awfully tempting.

(Sorry about your bad experience Heidi... just thought I might see any differing opinions)

I have thought about trying RCL, but can't imagine not going on the Wonder or Magic right now.

In the summer months, are the prices a lot different between these two cruise lines? I am thinking we won't be able to do off season much longer (because of possible schedule changes in the upcoming years), and after looking at the prices of summer cruises on DCL, I just don't see that happening for us.

How are the prices for RCL?
