Ok, first- is anyone else having annoying problems with trying to get to your subscription list? The links seem to not work and I have to go through CP to get there. It's annoying me to no end!!!

Phew, that's off my chest.. moving on.

Training.

I got back in the saddle- so to speak this week. My goal was 15 miles & I didn't quite make that- because we ended up with snow on Wednesday so.. eh, whatever!!

Monday- 2.3 Miles on the Dreadmill, 2.5 Miles outside = 4.8 miles!
Tuesday- 2 Miles on the Dreadmill
Wednesday- Nothing- Blizzard- work from home & no treadmill access
Thursday- 3.2 Miles on Dreadmill
Friday- -1.2 Miles on Dreadmill
Saturday- 3.1 5K Beer Run Downtown

TOTAL: 14.3 Miles. Woo!!!

So now how about some pictures of a certain 5K...

This was the Green Beer Run 5K downtown Chicago. While it was FREEZING out- it was SO much fun.

For those who don't know- Chicago has some pretty strong Saint Paddy's Day traditions the Saturday before the holiday. It's basically an all-day party complete with parade & dying the Chicago River Green. The Beer Run fit right in... and there were scores and scores of people coming into the city for this party!

The 6am commuter train was filled with young'ins hauling their alcohol to stake their parade places - all dressed up. We were decked out too and got lots of compliments... and we joked they kept saying "Way to Dress up Grandma's" because we were the oldest people around it seemed!

Anyways- we started & ended at Soldier Field (home of Da' Bears) and ran along Lake Shore Drive.

Green Beer- Start Here!!!

I didn't take a picture but those porta-potties were called "Lepra-Cans" which I thought was pretty funny!

We had an hour to kill before race- so we desperately jumped around trying to stay warm... No joking- those green wigs helped keep my head warm!!

Oh Sun.. warm me up, please!!!

There were about 1,500 runners... and we moved into the holding area for the start..

They would let so many go and then hold them back for the next wave. The course itself was on a bike/running path and it was a turnaround path.. so it was VERY narrow and that was a problem...

Also, it was still full of ice and we had to dodge ice patches.

It didn't really matter to me because this was an unchipped race & my friend hadn't trained...and so I kept her pace..and we walked some- we just had fun!

At one point- I did fall in a pothole and hurt my leg.. but thankfully it seems okay today!

The beautiful skyline. Even on freezing cold days, it's a beautiful run! I love my city!

We finished!!!

The medals they gave us were SO nice- seriously as heavy as the Disney half medals... all for a 5K!!! I love, love, love my green beer medal.

I totes want to wear into my office tomorrow along with my wig.

We headed back in to collect our Green Beer.. of course!!

And then over to listen to the DJ while we drank... and posed for some pics!!

By now, we were completely numb..so we debated our next move. That was, of course, over to see the awesome Green Chicago River. We decided to spring for a cab to warm up... and we joined the masses over on the other side of town....

Pictures really can't even capture it- it's so awesome!!

We were still numb so we ducked into a bar and had ourselves another drink! (It was not even 11 yet!!)

And then hauled ourselves to the train station to have another drink...while waiting for our train back to reality.

It was great fun!!! What a great way to celebrate running and St. Paddy's Day!

P.S- I am also going to attempt to update my actual TR tonight to FINALLY get through another day!! :)

your run looks like a good time! I've always wanted to go to Chicago for st pat's day--it seems like a fun place to spend the day. why WOULDN'T you wear your medal, green wig and st patricks day stuff to work? it's the only day you could get away with it. :rotfl: I love the people standing behind you with the green afro wigs--funny!

The river looks so cool! Looks like tons of fun and festivities. I think you should totally wear your wig and medal today to work. :thumbsup2

Come on up next year! It's only a short drive away! :) (although I would never bring my own children into the city on that day- it's mobbed (MOBBED) with drunk people starting very early!!)

I almost bought those afro wigs instead of the ones I did but decided my friend probably already hated me enough for making her dress up!

It was, it was! The city can throw a St. Paddy's party- that's for sure!

Looks like you had a lot of fun at the run...I am so jealous. I wish I lived in an area with fun runs like this. Same 30 people at all the runs here...and nothing not even close to this much fun. Love the hair and great mileage this week!

Nice. I'll have to try to see it in person sometime...I'm sure downtown Chicago is a really fun place to be on St. Patrick's Day.

Hey, you never know...I never thought I'd run anything beyond a 5K, and yet...:stir:

I thought you abandoned me. :)

I have plans probably next week to do a FE topic. As in, what to make?!?! :) Course it may give it away because I think you are in my group!

What did you guys decide to do in ST? Are you doing Bernard's tour in SM?

LOVE LOVE LOVE the St Patty's pics!

ST - Trunk Bay :beach:
SM - Golden Eagle Cat :boat:

stalk! stalk! stalk! stalk!

I think coming to the DIS multiple times a day to see if you have PM'd me means that I am stalking you just as much as you are stalking the DVC boards! :lmao:

Similar to mae3751, I also got behind. But getting all caught up now!

I'm hoping for some FE spoilers...

Trunk Bay is St. John's right?

I REALLY wanted to go to St. Johns- but we are in port so short of time..and there was so much travel time to get there.. I knew my kids would rebel!!! So ultimetly I decided against it!

BTW- I am spending my lunch reseraching FE items... :) Now that the whole dramafest is done...... hahahahaha! I got moved out of your group though over to E- so I have a whole new group...

Hahaha, I AM in your group now!!! So..I guess I need to watch it! :)

Looking right now at lunch. Although I'm totally afraid if I spend lunch looking for it, I'll be 945 posts behind on the FB page! :rotfl2:

You can totally share what you're doing! Haha. I am surprised I have kept my gift plans secret this long.

I am totally clueless on toddler gifts so we will see if my cry for help posting ends up devolving this evening!

LOVE IT! I'll probably end up browsing the target baby section and Baby's 'R Us. But then they start sending me coupons, and I hyperventilate a little bit.
