If no fast passes for a ride are given out, what happens to return times for a DAS holder?

If there are no fast passes for Smugglers Run, how would this effect a DAS holder? Would it be if the wait is 6 hours, they tell you to come back in 6 hours?

They will do wait tons -10 minutes and let you know where to return when it is your time to ride. They did this when TSM was not doing FP.

Also if you go with the first few days of opening get their very early they may close the land before park opens and all parties on the DAS must be in the park to get a return time.

I am planing ( I have hotel reservations) for opening day for Disney world So if you are not going opening day I can let you know how things went.

Thank you, not going for a month or more after opening day but would love to hear how it goes! Please thank you! Also, did you mean you need to be in the park or in the "land" SWGE?

You need to be in the park

I have the DAS and was at the hotel going back to the park that my friend was at she tried to get DAS return time but since I was not in the park they could not. We tried it the other way when she was not in the park and the same thing happened.

Yes, the DAS return would be based on the wait time, so if 6 hours, it would be come back in 6 hours. You could still use FPs during that time or short standby waits, shows, restrooms, eat, etc.

But you would not be able to get another return time during that time. My personal recommendation with the dad is go about 30 minutes prior to park closing to get a return time (or 30 minutes before they are closing off the line). Technically since anyone can still get in line, they will give you a return time, not sure what they will give as a return time at that point, but they will give one.

It is wait time -10 minutes so if it is. a 6 hour wait your return times would be 5 hour and 50 minutes not 6 hours.

Except when you get return times close to park closing and the return time would be after park closing, things get a little wonky then.

It was a trick that worked well with Racers when they started return times and lines were 3+ hours at DL.

Well, of course - since DAS is to eliminate a physical wait time in a queue, while others have to actually wait in the queue, then it is to be expected that the person would have to be in the actual park to get the DAS return time. Otherwise it is beyond the requirement of the ADA for accessibility, and would lead to more abuse of the DAS system.

Hope they close that loophole soon. Why not just have the people wait outside the area until the queue is almost empty, and then send them in at the very end?

At Disney world they tell you to come back when the park close

?
The OP was asking for clarification on if they needed to be in the land it self or the park

Actually saying come back when the line is close to empty makes sense, not sure how they could reasonably implement it without stationing a CM outside the line at every attraction until every guest is outside the park. Which is why this little loophole exists and really, it only affects one ride of the day, it just is harder when it is a ride that has a long line, although realistically, entering the line at 5 minutes before park closing will always have a shorter than posted standby wait time anyway.

But I was mentioning what the rules are as they currently stand for the person to know what options there are.

Not what the OP asked, they asked would the return time be 6 hours later if it was a 6 hour line.
Read the last sentence of the post I just quoted above yours

Let’s say at approaching closing time Smugglers Run has a 4 hour wait time... will they cut the line 4 hours before park close?? I don’t think so. But they will have people exiting the ride for 4 hours after park close interesting

They cut the line earlier in the day for FOP for the first few weeks. I can see them doing this too. I think they closed the line 90-120 minutes before park closed.

That makes sense. And if the line is closed, then I would assume no DAS return times are given either.

I was commenting on your response, not the OP's. Your response of not getting a DAS return time because you were not in the park, which correlates in what way to the question of being in the land over being in the park?

They ask if they needed to be in the land or the park I answered and the op has not asked a question so I answered their question. You I have no clue about
