Just last week, we did the dog sled excursion with Skagway Shore Tours which is also Alaska Shore Tours. It was excellent! Our excursion was at 3:30 p.m. (intentionally booked later to accommodate jet lag and DD19 and DD21's sleep schedules)--our guide, Chris, picked us up in a van for a group of 23 people, ranging in ages from toddler to adult. I am guessing that the maximum number on a tour would be 25-28. Chris gave us an excellent tour on the way to the Musher's Camp in Dyea where we had a quick pit stop and then boarded unimogs. The unimog experience was an adventure in itself as the unimog climbed up the mountain to the dogs' home and the trail for the dog carts. We then took a ride on the dog cart, pulled by 14 dogs. Each family in the group had their own cart. We stopped for pictures and untangling about 1/2 way through. Then, we met the dogs for a bit before heading back down to the base camp to learn more about the Iditarod and to meet the puppies! So much fun. Very informative, extremely well done, I highly recommend this company and this excursion. My kids loved it! For a little extra you can book with an option that allows a full refund with a 24 hour notice of cancellation.
