Hello all!

If I am looking to book a 2-bedroom standard view for 8 nights at 11 months and the first night is not available at the time of booking, but the rest of the nights are available, could I book the first night in a Lake View (BLT) and the remaining nights in standard view?

No. That would be two separate reservations and thus the second one would not begin until the day after the first one. Also be aware that if you are seeking BLT standard view for any time near NYE then you need to be online and ready to make the reservation at exactly 8 a.m. for any given start date, and even then you may lose out to those whose computers communicate faster with Disney's computers.

I was in the same position but booking BLT studio standard. Since only lake view and theme park view was availabile for the first night, I booked lake view for that night and the rest for standard in two separate reservations. Then I waitlisted the first night for standard. About two months later it was fulfilled and the lakeview reservation was cancelled. No notifications from DVC, just happened to check the dashboard and saw the changes. Have to call to link the reservations together.

But it can be done on that day, even though it's two separate reservations? We aren't looking for NYE, we are looking at June 2020. I'm just a little early planning :goodvibes

Thank you. That sounds like exactly what I needed to know. :thumbsup2

No, the reservations would need to take place on different days. The one day reservation for lake view could occur 11 months out from the date of the lake view reservation. The second reservation for standard view could only be made 11 months out from the first day of the standard view reservation.

And if planning for June 2020, you should easily be able to get that 2BR standard view as long as you book the first 7 nights 11 months out from the date of arrival and then on the next day, modify the reservation by adding the last night.

This is what I was afraid of.

You think? I'm worried because I have been reading that with all the walking going on it's getting harder and harder to book those.

It is a seasonal thing. There are essentially two DVC demand seasons at WDW: the high to extremely high demand season that runs from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan, and the low to moderate demand season from the Monday after marathon weekend in Jan to late Sep. To a significant extent that high demand season makes the rest of the year seem like off-season in comparison, and walkers are unlikely to affect availability for June time . As long as you are online at 8 a.m. eastern at 11 months out from your arrival date in June to reserve that BLT standard view 2BR, you should be able to get one.

Thank you! I guess I'll stop worrying and see what happens :goodvibes

I have been watching this the past few years....it falls into three season.

Extremely high = September to January. (Food and wine, Halloween, Holidays, Marathons)
High = February to April (Presidents Day, Flower and Garden, Spring Breaks)
Normal = May to August (kids are not in school)

So we are new to this— have our first DVC stay in 32 days! Yippee! But I am in a similar position for a short stay in October. We have 4 nights in a Deluxe Studio at Copper Creek and are waitlisted for an additional day at the front of the reservation. There is a Deluxe Studio with Walk in Shower available on that day. Should I reserve that room so we at least have one even if we have to move? This won’t delete our waitlisted room correct?

I would book the available shower room. And make sure your standard studio waitlist will run until 7 days pre-trip (you can manually check after that). Since the points are the same, don't have to worry about holding. An extra day in Disney (even if you have to move) is better than being at home :)

Booking the studio with the walk-in shower will not affect your waitlist. However you will want to contact Member Services and let them know that if your waitlist comes thru, you want to cancel the studio w/walk-in shower and use those points to book the waitlisted studio.

Normally, as a part of setting up your waitlist you would indicate this right away. But since you would be booking the studio w/walk-in shower after the fact, you would now need to make MS aware that you don't wish to have 2 studios reserved for that night.

It won't delete the waitlist, but if you do that (book the different category for that first night), I would cancel the current waitlist and make a new waitlist that replaces the reservation for the night you book as a back up.

Wouldn't that put OP further back in line on the wait list?

Yes, but that may be better than using additional points to book the back up, which may not be able to be banked or used prior to their expiration when returned, or perhaps even go into holding. Also protects if the OP forgets to cancel the back up if wait list works. Just depends on what points were used to book & their use year. I would choose "safety" over keeping a place in line, but YMMV.

AFAIK, MS would also have to cancel the existing waitlist & make a new one, anyway. Don't think just adding a note to the existing waitlist would work very well. Could be wrong about that. I'd ask the CM.

I'd definitely book it to have the room and then call MS and see if they can modify your waitlist to indicate you want to replace that room if the waitlist fills.
