If I'm waiting/hoping for a good DLH rate...

But I want to make sure I get the rooms I want during the time period I want, should I book the rooms now and change my reservation when a special comes out?

And by the way?
Don't be confused - mousechat and mousepad - two very different things.
Looking for Disney-related stuff, try the former.
Have a foot fetish and looking for a fetish board? Stick to the latter.

OH, I'm just laughing so hard at the description of where you must have gone first....

FWIW, there is micechat. But the message board for mouseplanet *starts* with mousepad dot (then mouseplanet dot com), and one day I just threw "mousepad" into my address bar and pressed enter...same results as you found...:rotfl:

Yes you can change, as long as you don't manage to get yourself into a non-refundable/changeable rate (like through travelocity or something). When are you thinking about going?

I'd say if you are definitely going to stay at the DLH then book the room you want now. If you're not sure, I'd wait since you have to pay one night up front as a deposit (it is refundable if you cancel). We booked under the latest pin code which I thought was a good rate. When the recent Fall rates came out, that were even less, I called up and they applied the lower rate to our stay. We saved so much that we were able to upgrade to a nicer room, and still pay less.

Yes, i was a little surprised! And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has made such a mistake! :) In answer to your question, we're looking to go either the first week in February (which would mean we'd get to be in DL for our anniversary) or the last week. We're going with my MIL so need either a suite or 2 rooms. I know off site would be probably much cheaper, but it's our first time, our kids are at the right age to be blown away by the characters and magic of the place, and we probably won't be back for a long while so I don't want to cut too many corners (i want to be pampered LOL). Thanks for the advice you guys - I'll make my reservations tomorrow.

Now I need to decide concierge or not. And which hotel. (PPH is still a contender). And view room? Standard? It's a little overwhelming all this planning :)

Always book your room about 2 to 3 months in advance to get the lowest rate. If the room is about to be filled up, the rate will go up like crazy.

You just never really know with the onsites.

A lot of us were despairing the last couple months, because the normally (at this time of year) incredible rates for Annual Passholders were not there. Since 2007 at least we've seen rates of 149, for instance, at PPH and sometimes even DLH...but all the way into September, it was all high. October was 221 at PPH, no variation.

Then the great Expedia rates for PPH came out (but not for our dates, and we were booked with DVC points anyway, so it was just morbid curiousity on my part) at $100/night at PPH, and then FINALLY the AP rates showed up.

Did the same thing in May...high high high rates, then suddenly in April down the prices went.

So you just never know. :goodvibes

When you book, be sure to note the last day you can cancel, look alllll the way up until then (or, to be safe, the day before that), and then stop looking if nothing better came out.

Concierge can be good. It does take you away from the parks, though, if you're trying to get your money's worth. But I'll say that on the trip we stayed Concierge (at DLH), it was the most hydrated trip we've ever had, b/c we would snag two bottles of water each (they are the small sized Dasani bottles sold in the parks) every time we went through the lounge. It was so good to be so hydrated. :upsidedow

I would book akmomesq. We have booked with Dreams Unlimited in the past and your travel agent will look for discounts for you and let you know. Ours saved us almost $500 last year (at WDW) and it just required us to change our hotels, same category hotel, just a better deal! Dreams is great. They will make your dining arrangement, character dining, etc. They do a wonderful service and don't cost anything extra!!! You can ask them anything you want. I highly recommend them. Good luck with your planning.:rotfl:

BTW, PPH is nice we've stayed there.
