:sad2: Maybe you all will know the answer to this question. I called MS to be put on a waitlist for 11/23 (we decided to arrive on day earlier) we already have 11/24-11/30. They put me on the waitlist I asked them to call my cell number when it was available.

But they called my home phone. Now it's past the 24 hours, I know I asked them to call my cell phone because I never answer my home phone. And the lady @ MS even called me back (on my cell the day I waitlisted) to tell me I wouldn't have enough points for the waitlist if it came through.

I have since bought points. Do you think I will still be able to get this day?

Thanks for listening to me whine

If the 24 hours ran into the weekend, you would have until Monday to call back. So a lot will depend on when they actually called you. If too much time has gone by, they have probably given the room to whoever is next on the list (if there was anybody). Good Luck!

My guess is that the day has already gone to the next person on the waitlist. Sorry.

About all you can do is call back and see if you can get on the waitlist again. Maybe you'll get lucky. Hope so.

Since you now know you have enough points and you are only looking for one night, why not go with the auto book waitlist option? That way, if the day becomes available, MS will just book it for you and mail you the confirmation. No phone contact necessary.

Best wishes -

cant you make it so they will automatically change your reservation without calling you.....i seem to remember being able to do that, all i got was a new confirmation in the mail from MS

Yes I believe that was an option. I wasn't sure if I would have the points by then. But now that I do I will go for that option.

Yikes what a bummer because now my points become only 75 % bankable and I have to keep my ressie @ PC.

That stinks (it was their mess up).

Thanks Everyone!

Since you requested that they call your cell phone and they didn't, if they indeed gave the room away, request that they at least put you at the head of the wait-list for the next room available. If MS says they can't, ask to speak to a supervisor because technically it was their fault becuase you did leave instructions on how to contact you properly.

Good luck abd hopefully the room is still available and all this worry will be for nothing! :wizard: Here's some pixie dust!

When searching for more than one day, there are actually two separate options to consider giving four possibilities with the wait list. One option is whether to automatically confirm and the other is whether to wait list each day separately so that you get them one at a time. The best chance of getting what you need is to wait list to auto confirm day by day. But you may end up with some days separated by days you don't have. There are many tricks to protect against this situation but it depends in large part on how many points you have, your home resort and the timing of your use year in regards to both when you want to go and how far out you are. The main srategy to protect yourself is holding a separate back up reservation (either points or cash), but it depends to a large degree on your banking options.

You can also decide ahead of time whether to authorize them to borrow the points if needed. I'd say it's a good idea to send them a confirmatory email if there's any question as to whether they have it down or you think there's a good chance it will get messed up. That way you have proof as to how you instructed them and avoid the he said, she said situation.

Sorry, this doesn't make sense to me, maybe I don't have enough info. Assuming you have a Feb use year, you could only bank 50% of your total points come Monday, there is no point when you could book only 75%. But transferred points come outside those totals. Say you had 200 points for Feb plus you had 50 more transferred in. Come 1 August (Mon), you could bank 150 points, 100 of your own points and all the ones that were transferred to you.

IF you call Monday when they open, I bet they still have the room for you.

Your right Dean. I do have a Feb UY. I thought 75% was the next down. I've never had any left over points to worry about banking. But after buying points for specifically this senario. Thanks for the light at the end of th tunnel. I think I'll be the 1st one on the line Monday morning.

Regards,

Sleepy thanks for the PD

Just remember it's 50% of the total FOR THE YEAR, not 50% of what you have left. In your case this may be good. For someone who banked half their points earlier in the use year it is bad.

I'm just sending you some extra pixie dust. :wizard: I'm also hoping that they still have the room available for you when you call tomorrow morning.

Please update this thread and let us know what they tell you in the morning. I'm interested in their response since they are the ones that messed up.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the PD J & R's Mom... I called MS this morning (I had to be one of the 1st callers). I kept redialing. Rosa told me that the studio was still attached to my name. Yeah (all that worrying about nothing).

So now vacation plans are complete (well that is until we get to PS time)

Thanks for all the info & well wishes!

Regards,

That's great news. Glad it worked out for you.

I can NEVER get DVC to call my cell phone! They always call my house which means I get the message after I get home (when they are always closed) and so there is always a days delay on me getting back to them (typically for ANOTHER message to be left to CALL MY CELL PHONE).

I called and raised a ruckus and supposidly, my cell is now my main number on the account, but I have worked in CS before and know the "make them happy" drill. Time will tell when I need another call back for something.
