If I was **Hoping***(not expecting) for an upgrade at AKL....

Are you ever able to do a paid upgrade to Savannah (if a room were to be available) at check in? If we do make the plunge and switch to AKL I'd be nervous to commit to the extra expense of a Savannah view, but if my trip fund gets fat enough it would be nice to be able to have that flexibility.

I just want you to be aware that maybe the upgrades aren't always only $10. I'm not sure how much they can go up to. At DL Hotel, they told us an upgrade was $49 per night.
I might have had some factors that helped us get in a bit better at AKL, such as I mentioned we were in town to meet our reverend for our Disney Wedding (I know, shameless), and there Hurricane Jeanne was knocking on Florida's door. Oh, and we had mentioned we were supposed to be there the week earlier, but Hurricane Ivan stopped us. Wow, now when I look back, the poor CM must have had pity on us! lol.

I had booked pool view and requested bunk beds, asked about an upgrade to savanna and was told it would be $60 more each night. Too expensive for me. My family loved our room, 1st floor down by the exercise room with a terrific view of ***the Disney boulder*** and a sliver of pool. My family loved the room, I was disappointed. The kids (teens) had a great time viewing animals from the public viewing areas and spent one entire evening with CMs and the night vision goggles. Just posting so you know that not getting an upgrade can still be a great experience.

I asked 2 different CMs this bc I also am not sure if I can commit to that much money, and they both said that as long it is available they will let you pay for an upgrade at check in. That's probably what we will do if we have the money.
